That Keita looked brilliant for them against WH. They are a very good side and I expect nothing from the game............always a good thing with Palace.

I watched the replay of Liverpool v West Ham. West Ham were seriously shocking in defence and I dont expect Liverpool to walk through us quite so easily.

- -----------------Wan-Bissaka Tomkins Sakho Van-Anholt--------------------- -------------------Townsend Kouyate(sorry Jimmy) Milivojevic Schlupp---------- --------------------------------------Benteke Zaha------------------------------------ West Ham were shocking partly because the players haven’t worked out how to play together yet but also the high line defence tactics with slow defenders and likes of a slow immobile Noble in the centre meant Liverpool just ran through them PVA and AWB are seriously quick, Sakho is no slouch. Maybe needs to bring Kouyate in to midfield for Jimmy Mac and then we don’t need to defend on the edge of the penalty box. We have an outball with Wilf & Schlupp has serious pace to breakthrough as well. We can get something out of this Last edited by swissroll; 14-08-2018 at 06:14 PM. |

What we don’t have is Cabaye and RLC to retain some possession. Any thoughts anyone on that who has more nous then me?

Liverpool are very good i doubt RLC and YC would make us any more likely to get a result then Kouyate and Schlupp. This is a game we expect to lose but set up to stop them and try and hit them on the break and who knows.

Hopefully Sakho doesn't p!ss around too often and is prepared to just smash it out when the need arises. They press anyway, but think they may target him a bit. I think we'll score in this one, but how many they score is the worry.
The Henn AWB Tomkins Sakho PvA Townsend Luka Kouyate Schlupp Wilf Benteke Maybe a few minutes for Ayew in place of Schlupp at some point. |

Well after all that bullshit at the start of the last season, we are now 7 unbeaten in the Prem! Hodgson has just beaten two of his former clubs 2-0 on each occasion.
Second to Man City, this will probably be our toughest match of the season, I just wish they have some European qualifier of something to distract them midweek.

i think fitness and match fitness will be key for this one so fully expect Roy to keep the same starting eleven. Liverpool have great skill and movement up front but the rest are just bloody good athletes. Although i do concur with the thoughts around Kouyate starting to stifle thier energy in midfield this may be a game too soon for him.
nice to bring him on though half way through second half if we are having to defend a lead !! |

This is the kind of game where we will miss Cabaye, start with the same 11 and bring on Kouyate a bit earlier.

Anyone worried about the atmosphere without the ultras? I'm really hoping we will prove there is more about the Selhurst atmosphere than just them but won't deny a tinge of anxiety that we may be affected by it...

Roy doesn’t make unnecessary changes and certainly doesn’t change a winning team. Close thread.

This week is pretty much a 'shot to nothing' for us as on paper we are not expected to get a point from a team tipped to finish by most to finish in the top 2. It is an early chance to measure ourselves against one of the best and any points would be a bonus. That doesn't mean don't try or play without confidence, more that we should have no fear. Just hope we don't fall 'foul' of red cars or pens to unravel us.

Cabaye started and was replaced by RLC in March. They were never both on the pitch. We did ok that day and RH will have us prepared again.

Why change a winning team?

We were the better team for parts of the game the last time we played them at Selhurst. They were struggling to contain Wilf prior to the penalty. Mane was lulcky to stay on the pitch but they deserved their equaliser given the amount of posession and attcking they did. If I recall, we had the best of it for a time in the second half and looked more likely to get a second goal. They broke and Salah scored. I thought at the time that we should have got something from that game.
The only significant change from the team that played us in April is the addition of Keita. We played Kelly with Sakho last time and will now have Tomkins and Sakho. I hope the team play with the expection of winning some points. Liverpool haven't become unstoppable just because they put 4 past West Ham. Benteke and Zaha will have to work harder out of posession or our midfield may get overrun. We do need to get the ball to Zaha more often than we did against Fulham and he needs to be a bit sharper. If we limit the individual errors and up our work rate from the Fulham game we're in with a chance. |

I see that most people on here have bought into the media hype that this Liverpool side are pretty much unplayable then.
It'll be 11 v 11 out there on Monday night. Klopp only knows one way to play and we all know what that is. They've looked pretty average in the past when that plan hasn't worked. Tactically, I think Hodgson is ahead of Klopp and he'll start the same team as last weekend. We are a nicely balanced side now and I am cautiously optimistic. |

So are those guys just not coming to games any more? Seems a bit odd, given that this has the potential to be one our best ever seasons.

We took them close last season with Benteke missing some sitters. Their defence will creak and we will need to play well in defence and Hennessey wise.
Fancy us to take something though |
