I can see us putting pressure on the top Six, but end up 8th-9th.

I don't see any change in top six so we need to finish 7th to see Europe, I believe we can finish better than Newcastle, Leicester, Burnley and maybe Everton so not impossible but probably unlikely

7th-11th, where in that bracket is dependant on how Meyer settles in, injuries, and general luck or lack thereof.

10th is achievable I think.

Assuming we play only eleven men and not the ref as well, I think we are close to having a first eleven, if fit and firing, capable of taking on anyone in the top six with the exception of the Manc Citeh Oilers and the Manc Wankers. ( Citeh are too good and, let's be honest, we never play eleven men against the Wankers )
But all this assumes minimal injuries, equal refereeing treatment and reasonable luck. In terms of injuries, we don't have the depth of a top six side. Unless we get another biblical plague of injuries, we should be nowhere near the bottom three. To get even near the top six, we need good fitness and form across almost all our first eleven for the whole season. Equal refereeing treatment? Unlikely. And impossible if we somehow get near displacing a top six team approaching season's end. No referee is going to make a vital decision in our favour in a match that could be attributed to costing one of the big boys a European place. He would be finished. Reasonable luck is a combination of the above. God knows we are due some after last season. Then again, this is Palace. Selhurst being obliterated by an asteroid is not out of the question. I see us having enough to finish 8-9th place, assuming the Evertons, Burnleys, Leicesters and Wet Shams have an equal level of fortune. We could have finished there last season had one single thing gone right for us and we have likely strengthened since. We really should take some kind of step forward. There are too many positives going on in terms or buys, emerging players and players returning to fitness and form for us not to do reasonably well at least. Probably famous last Palace words but I am very hopeful this year. Last edited by SOUTHGATE EAGLE; 16-08-2018 at 07:47 PM. |

7th and a cup run.
Something feels different this year. It's going to be a good one.

7th if we have a central forward in our ranks who will score 12-15 to go with Wilfs, Lukas and PVAs efforts.
If not then 12th. |

Agree with most, avoiding anything approaching last season's carnage on the injury front, we're easily good enough to stay up with this squad and Roy. 9th, called it ages ago.
Cup run is in our blood and would be a great bonus. Europe is still just a bit out of range, admittedly Burnley did manage it last season. Frankly, more than happy if we stay up and channel significant resources into the youth set-up and scouting. Safe-standing in the new stand and across the whole ground may be a bit wishful. It would boost the famous Selhurst atmosphere - more noise and 'singing' from all around - not just the Holmesdale and adjacent corner of the Arthur Waite. |

Let's hope this doesn't become known as the team of the 20s....

We need to retain possession more. We were headed that way last season but cabaye and RLC gone. Fulham was a bad omen - for that at least - but maybe Meyer can offer a more sophisticated apprqch
