In the media this is called 'ramping'. Then the story will be how we've 'underachieved' when we 'only' finish 10-13th etc.

The idea we are a one man team is bollocks.

We didn't win when he wasn't in the team last year. We have good players but having him in the team gives them a lift if hes not there teams can press us even more. We are mainly a one man team thats why we pay him more than anyone else and probably twice as much as some.

RLC being in the team last season stopped that. Now we are back to the Wilf and Yala years where you stop the two of them and we can't do anything. We played well today but it was clear the two players we were missing even against Fulham a little bit when they had their big spells of possession.

We are not the same side as we were in the past We've moved forward.

We have dynamics that haven't even been employed yet in the likes of Max Meyer, Cheikhou Kouyaté and Jordan Ayew plus AWB has been a revelation that no-one expected.

All our players seem to have stepped up a gear and thinking we have to rely on Wilf otherwise we are f*cked is a stupid notion.

Wilf is the X factor in our team. Liverpool shut that down yesterday. We had two shots on target out of 8. Compare that to 10 on target out of 12 against Fulham. Wilf was much more involved against Fulham, he makes things happen for us.

We were playing Liverpool, not Fulham.

If Wilf had been fully engaged, we still probably wouldn't have got anything. We had to play against the referee too.

We all know how important Wilf is to Palace but we are not a one man team and it doesn't credit the skills and efforts of the other 10 players to suggest we are.

That they needed the ref to do it isn't such a good sign though, but for that and the width of a post this could have been another away loss for them.

Crystal Palace V Liverpool 20:00 KO

Whatever the slow motion replays showed or didn’t show, in real time there is no way that Michael Oliver could be sure about the penalty or the sending off. In particular the red card incident where it was impossible from where the referee was standing to see what had happened. You could tell how the match was going to be reffed from the first 30 minutes when he chose not to speak to any Liverpool player despite infringements which could well have been interpreted as yellow cards.

Crikey, my group all thought we did yesterday.

We disrupted Liverpool, a v physical team that is going to finish top four for sure. The fact that they didn’t get flowing for much of the game was down to our hard work and organisation. We’ll see them rip up some other teams soon, and I thought their goalie was v strong too.

I think the best chance to beat them will be in weeks when they’re preoccupied with European matches, but yesterday they needed a dodgy penalty to make the difference...and we all know how a goal changes a match. It was pivotal.

But I did miss Cabaye, felt we needed someone to ‘put their foot on the ball’ and calm things down a bit in midfield. It was always a bit panicked in that area, partly due to Liverpool pressing well.

yep. One wonders how long before Meyer takes Jimmy’s role in CM. Maybe Jimmy moves wider, or maybe someone else plays wide but we were very much short of quality (if not energy) in the centre yesterday

Meyer for Schlupp for Watford, Schlupp faded badly and should have been subbed a lot earlier or Move Wilf out wide and try Ayew alongside Benteke. Get behind the defence and stop punting long balls to Benteke we played right into the bin dippers hands cos Waynes kicking was woeful

Wilf has been a 'marked man' for a few years now, and has learned to live with it. This season Salah will be a target for every opposition team - let's see how he fares.
Sky and the BBC are obsessed with Liverpool - I kind of understand it, because they are far and away our most successful club in Europe.
What I don't get, is the number of BBS 'little pundits' (you can't call them 'fans' can you), who always try to justify everything and 'big-up' our opponents after a few controversial decisions. We know the playing field is not level, and going on about it is boring, but still trying to deny that, is just crass.
