Huge fan of pro-cycling, but more of a lurker on the thread, thought that I would have to give it a go.

Tempted to go for Vansevenant as my doper considering last nights events, but that might be cheating!

Pah, Fozzy Selhurst has already nabbed the Z Vetements shirt, looks like I will have to go with Miller's other classic shirt, in Panasonic. Not as flash mind you...

Do you have to join the mini-league at the start or can you just enter later if you are doing well?

you can technically do the latter but my recently made up rule would deem you ineligible.

Boo hiss to you and your late made up rules!

Will have to consider very carefully whether to enter Velogames and enter the BBS mini-league then.

When is the deadline to enter the BBS mini-league?

Bonus question (5 points)

Choose one rider who'll be caught doping before the end of the tour.

If you would have said after it would be Contador . I'll go for Damiano Cunego purely because he sounds drunk/high talking about winning the general classification so...

If it wasn’t hard enough picking a Velogames squad another set of decisions to be made

Yellow Jersey

Andy Schleck or Contador – Schleck, Contador will hopefully have another cow related incident, this time being brought down in Stage 3, a la Criterium du Dauphine incident (I wanted to suggest on the Champs-Élysées but felt this would be stretching credulity – unless of course there is a French equivalent of being a Freeman of London which allows grazing of cows in the Tuileries)
Cadel Evans or Samuel Sanchez – Evans will bore everyone to death by just hanging in there
Gesink or Van Den Broeck – hard call but Van Den Broeck by a whisker
Basso or Wiggins – Wiggins, Basso is nothing without his ‘supplements’
Frank Schleck or Brajkovic – Schleck has a track record over 3 weeks, plus I couldn’t go for someone whose pro career is Discovery Channel, Astana & Radioshack (yes I know I chose him last year ….)
Vinokourov or Kloden – a plague on both their houses, I hope neither will finish, but Kloden as I have to pick one
Hesjedal or Leipheimer – a bit like the previous one Armstrong team v various Armstrong teams & the exceedingly dodgy Gerolsteiner, Hesjedal by a short straw
Kreuziger or Cunego – Cunego as he isn’t As****

Green Jersey

Cavendish or Hushovd – has to be Cavendish
Petacchi or Gilbert - Gilbert
Farrar or Greipel – Greipel, Farrar seems a shadow of himself, although both will do badly (liked Cav’s dismissive attitude towards Greipel in Real Peloton 44)

Polkadot Jersey Frenchmen:

Charteau or Moncoutie - Charteau
Gadret or Voeckler - Gadret
Pineau or Kern - Pineau
Dupont or Casar - Dupont

Team Time-Trial

HTC or Garmin - HTC
Radioshack or Team Sky -Sky
Liquigas or Leopard-Trek - Leopard-Trek

Individual Time Trial:

Cancellara or Martin - Cancellara
Millar or Wiggins – Millar (Brad will be knackered after beating Basso in the mountains)
Boasson Hagen or Luis Leon-Sanchez – Boasson Hagen

Bonus question (5 points)

Choose one rider who'll be caught doping before the end of the tour – No one, just like erm last year (If I can’t have no one put me down for Vino – he has little to lose, zero reputation to protect and at 37 at virtually the end of his career – I would love him to go out that way on the biggest cycling stage)
So as to not be seen as condoning or indeed encouraging drug taking; to balance this out perhaps there should be a -5 points if any our selections get caught.

For the avoidance of doubt this is Saturday 2 July 2011, we wouldn't want anyone coming along with one of the 87 different teams that they have put together and adding the highest scoring one on 23 July now would we?

On a slightly more serious note , if you want to understand the history of the TdF, what some of the jargon means and why riders at the front use more energy etc, Matt Rendell's book is a good palce to start

Its alright you may have guessed it was in jest.

Still looking at possible changes to the line-up but thinking i have a good mix in there at present given the way points are scored.

I hope you haven't picked any riders whose main aim is to reach the feeding station in a breakaway!
Fozzy senior can give you some good advice there!

Those 10 points add up I'll have you know! He'll be co-leader for this but hasn't made the cut for me!

I'm leaving this stuff for now. I've gone through every stage profile including the last few km bits, I've been on a belgian social networking site, dutch blogs, looked at stage profiles from last year's vuelta and video streams of them. I've been watching l'equipe's 'CHRONO' like a hawk anytime I'm near a computer and I've come to the conclusion I need to leave it alone for a bit.

I've got a squad that'll add entertainment to every stage and I'm happy with it.
