It's down to the individual, but there isn't a standard 6 month leave policy.

I've known drivers come straight back to work, I've also know a driver that had a fatality and he could never drive a train again.

Could you be thinking of Tube drivers perhaps?

Do we have any tube drivers on the BBS? Surely we must, considering both involve sitting in the dark by yourself & pressing buttons.

Wow, I've never heard that.... but I've had calls from lawyers about a car crash I had over 3yrs ago encouraging me to sue, so I guess it's possible.

Also if it stops you from working and you have family/mortgage etc there are some people that would seek some kind of compensation. Thinking about the guy who never drove a train again, he took a 20k a year pay-cut to do a different job, and probably has 20yrs to go until retirement.

Since the criminal injuries was stopped by our lovely government a few drivers I know have accepted lower grade duties after a fatality whilst keeping the drivers rate of pay. Seems to work in my toc. Not sure about others though

At London midland we are offered a package including a financial package and access to a counselling service. I believe they are the only Toc who have done this since the criminal injuries compensation package was removed. It's not a lot of money but at least it is something to compensate for loss of earnings.

We get the counselling service. No financial package but I suppose 6 months sick pay ain't too bad. They do harass you to come back ASAP but that's scotchrail for you

Why don't Boris Bikes count as part of a travel card?

Just think about it, people that travel daily on tube could get the bikes to reduce congestion on tubes. People stay fitter. People get more for their money. Braclays get more advertising.

Win win?

I've often thought the same. As you say, win win.

Ha ha typical, although LBG staff tend to be generally good.

Anyway, I had an interview this morning at London Bridge so got an earlier train expecting delays. Of course it got on time and I was 45 minutes early.

I don't really think many drivers would have the heart to do that especially as there is no loss of earnings for us... (except overtime...if we stay off sick).
