He'd do well at either Spurs or Arsenal imo. All I know is, Newcastle are f*cked next season. They're gonna really struggle, Super Al will have to work miracles. Especially having lost Kuqi.

The things that are happening in this club is amazing. At the start of the last seasons they had a good squad, a really good manager, good results in the squad had repaired the damage the previous season in the premier league had done their reputation. And Ashley just suddenly decides to trash it all. Some owners get it really wrong, but you can still to some extent forgive them, cause they meant well and tried their best. But Ashley just seems to be an arrogant idiot who cares about nothing but himself. He almost makes the Blackburn owners look good.

Actually I don't think NUFC will suffer all that much.

Ever since Palace got relegated from the PL, I have been casually following Newcastle - they are such a disfunctional mess that they can't fail but entertain.

Ever since the team got promoted last year, Ashley is on a mission to clean house. NUFC fans may not approve, but I think he is correct and justified in doing so.

- He was ripped off. The club had 100 million in hidden debt that he was not aware of at time of purchase and that he had to pay out of his pocket

- He trusted the existing football men at the club to bring the right people in and the team and signings massively underperformed and got relegated (Xisco anyone?)

- He trusted one 'legend' after another to right the ship, all failed.

- He trusted the players to do their job, they were too busy drinking and whoring to do so.

Basically, Ashley is getting rid of anyone (player and staff) that does not take NUFC as seriously as he does. Those he likes / trust get 5 year deals as a sign of faith. Everyone else, out. In business its known as a purge - and it works ...

Wasn“t Xisco brought in by Llambas and Wise, people he himself had brought to the club? And wasn“t the undermining of Keegans position by bringing in those men and players like that the reason for Keegan leaving?

the above doesn't make sense with the way he treated Hughton though

Xisco was brought in by Wise who shortly thereafter was let go.

Keegan wanted more control, but once Ashley started to go into cleanup mode, his vsions of being the 'boss' of NUFC went flying out the window.

Like I said, big fat disfunctional entertaining mess.

There were rumors that Ashley didn't like Hughton's political beliefs and how he used them as a model for running the club. Hughton is an avowed leftist and created 'worker committees' to get the players to take on more personal responsibility for the fate of the club.

It worked, but it transformed certain players (Nolan, Barton, etc) into defacto assistant managers within the dressing room. Once Ashley decided to take a more hands on role in running NUFC, something had to give.

Newcastle supporting mate is livid.

Basically the fans are getting turned into a laughing stock, it wouldn't be so bad if they were re-investing at least part but he appears to be pocketing all the money for himself. I know you can say he inherited the debt but should the fans really suffer for his inability to do even the slightest due dilligance?

One thing Ashley is NOT doing is pocketing the cash, according to the latest accounts Ashley has loaned Newcastle (interest free) £100M+ just to keep the club as going concern.

The myth about Ashley making a profit is the usual bullshit from the "best fans in the world". A deluded geordie, who would have thought?

It's a shame Ashley didn't pull the plug when they got relegated because they would have made Leeds look like a well-run business .

Problem is, unlike CPFC2010, Ashley does not communicate often with the fans (and in the few times he has communicated, he's been vague). So the Geordies are confused as to what the plan is. He also fails to understand that the club is also a public trust.

If Ashley came out and said, "Dear NU fan, this is the state of the club. This is what we plan on doing in the short term. This is what we are looking to do in the long term.", alot of the wailing and gnashing of teeth would subside.

I do understand that to a point, but anyone can access the company accounts and see the position Newcastle were in post-relegation.

Yes, it was amazing Ashley did not do any due diligence, especially as he started a billion pound business from nothing, but it's not like the guy went into Newcastle to be public enemy number one.

He has given them Shearer, Keegan and saved the club from liquidation, and helped steady them again as a club, they are on the road to being profitable again. Maybe they need to cut him some slack?

I believe he did do due diligence, but alot of it was very cleverly hidden in Enron-esque ways. Once he bought it, well, it was too late.

No he didn't do any due diligence. Hence why the Hall family were so keen to sale.

In buying the club he had to pay £50M to pay off the St. James Park mortgage as the mortgage arrangement stated that if ownership of the club changed from the Hall family the remaining balance on the mortgage had to be paid off in full within one month for example!
