Nothing being open after christmas day until at least the 27th

Getting a £10 gift voucher that could only be redeemed in WH Smiths or waterstone bookshop and a couple of other shops you never really went in then trying to spend a pound only to get the change back in vouchers.

I know someone mentioned penny for the guy and as I am aware it was classed as street begging so banned but when we used to go trick or treat we used to get money but now is more americanised and sweet orientated (when did this start to happen?).

Also door knocking carol singers although I guess that may have gone down the penny for the guy route.

Sounds like the hollow dried stems out stems of cow parsley.

We called it, err, cow parsley.

Wish they’d go back to the old Sunday hours, Sunday drinking was way better back then, the pub would be rammed with half the village trying to throw as much booze down their throats as they could in the two hours. If you wanted to see anyone they’d be there, Nowadays people just come and go all at all sorts of different times, or just don’t bother.

It was more like a filtered branch for want of a better description cannot figure out what the hell we were doing or whose idea but it was more than once and we used to have to hunt the shit down. Used to even burn like fag, just a lot slower.

Bringing back other memories now of making my way along the train lines from the back of my house to Blackhorse Bridge! ******* hell

Hollow with ridges running along the length of it? You could carefully insert a thinner length down the middle before lighting it to create a ‘fuller’ smoke and reduce the chances of it turning into a chimney.

That is starting to sound like it but I think we hunted down the ones that were 100% it was Fag type diameter maybe a bit bigger with lots of little tubes inside I think. I remember blowing on the end to get it going!

They were good if empty if you had a bird with you though.
