I agree. I think some of the ire is due to Hodgson bringing him on as sub when other options were widely felt as better. Also he started games when he wasn't playing so well when Meyer was on the bench (it may just've been that he wasn't ready, he struggled yesterday).
I like him too. He still has the pattern of one good game followed by two mediocre ones, but played as a left back he's solid. Two very good goals this season.

Jeffery Schlupp
Enigma, but incredible finish. Deserves his own thread.

More league goals than Zaha this season. Baffling. Still don’t think he’s justified the price we paid. Would like humble pie by the end of the season

I still think he's shit.
Had a good game today though.

He goal was so important. We usually dont make the most of half chances and he took the ball wide and put it in the far corner. Coming so soon after MCs goal it put them off their stride and 3 mins later we took the lead.

The videos of him on YouTube show him to be a dynamic goalscorer. He's buried the three chances given to him this season and I can't remember any real misses. He's fast and not bad in the air either. Why not put him up front, ahead of Meyer, and get Wilf back on the wing? Can he be worse than Ayew?

He's a very useful utility player with some obvious flaws and some handy strengths. You never actually want him to start games but he can play anywhere along the left (and apparently now the middle), provide a physical presence and the occasional goal.
We did pay a fair bit for him, but we did so for PL experience and it's likely Roy wouldn't have played him nearly as much if was the same player without the PL experience.

You need strength in depth in the squad and he is versatile and can play a number of roles. Our squad is pretty strong in all departments apart from the strikers. Hopefully Benteke or Wickham coming back will fix that.

He looks like a centre forward to me, who can score goals. He looks like a very good one, what a goal

I don't like him on the wing at all ..... Average but ok at Leftback .... Well-done Roy and nobody here would have tried it but rather good in the middle ... one of the best games I've seen from him today.

He won several young player awards at Leicester and had a spell at Man U so clearly talent as a youngster. He’s 26 tomorrow so should be in his prime. I think we all agree he’s not a winger. He’s a decent wingback or full back but, like others, I’d like to see him up front - a return to his position as a youngster. Even if that doesn’t work out he’s a great utility player.

I thought he had 3 goals this season. Have I missed some?

The goals he has scored this season are excellent.
Still got that striking instinct from when he was played as a Striker at the start of his career. If you are to stand any chance of beating the big boys you have to have ruthless finishing of any chances that come your way which produced the amazing result today! |
