Andy Barnes RIP
Just been informed that Andy Barnes who played for Chipstead, Sutton Utd. and Palace has died of a cardiac arrest aged 51.
I believe he was injured playing for us in his first reserve fixture which ended his career although subsequently he played 20 minutes for the first team, I think in order to sort out insurance. A top club cricketer and a lovely bloke who I played a bit of football with. RIP Andy.

Think he played against QPR away. Wasn’t he a nurse. Terrible luck with knee injuries.

He done his knee the same time as Salako. Remember the brief appearance at QPR, a class gesture by Coppell, whose own career was ended with a similar injury.
51 is no age, what sad news.

Good hockey player as well. Played for TMW (Trinity Mid-Whits).

Bloody hell !! Pretty sure I played against him once, in the Croydon Sunday League, when
he played for a team called Woodcote Rovers, in the mid to late 80's. Only 51, that is very, very sad RIP |

Blimey. That is a shock. A few mates knew him really well. I met him a few times - a really nice guy. Leaves two young kids sadly - he was in great physical shape when someone saw him recently too. Incredibly sad news.

Yes I think so also (IIRC)
This was him with John Salako when they had both had their knee ops together

Yes, came on a sub for a runout and was subbed off due to him retiring. Think Coppell allowed him a taste of the action. Sad news, RIP.
