Remember him breaking through, always a great feeling when a local lad gets his debut and at the time, Palace were absolutely flying in the great two or three seasons under Coppell late 80s early 90s.
Hard to take in that players of that era are passing away and thoughts go to his family and friends. RIP Andy

I don’t know, life/death is bloody cruel at times isn’t it.
His Palace career ended as it began, then becomes a nurse. Popular guy (I know people who know him well) who keeps himself fit by playing hockey. One mate told me on the weekend that of all their friends in that age bracket, he really didn’t expect Andy to be the one to be taken so suddenly like this. Such a shock and so terribly sad for his family. |

My Auntie knew him - I remember staying at hers & my Uncle's as a 7 year old during my 1st season supporting Palace. I was Palace mad & my Uncle took me to the games vs Wimbledon & Middlesbrough over Easter whilst I was there. I remember clear as day her showing me that programme with her friend Andy on the front with Salako - I think she pulled it out to shut me up for 5 minutes. I didn't know what an ACL was then but remember her saying he couldn't play anymore due to it. I recall sitting their dumbfounded that she knew someone who played for Palace. Mad what you remember as a kid - that picture of him & JS is exactly as I remember.
Really sad news & no age at all. RIP Andy.

Very sad. I went to school with Andy. He was a couple of years younger than me, but we played cricket together. Talented sportsman and a nice bloke. RIP.

Just seen this
Talented guy who from memory was recommended to Coppell by Peter Prentice/Billy Smith and Alan Gane. Even after he retired he played 5 a side down at Tooting and did some work with autistic kids/adults. His big passion was always cricket and he was good mates with John Budden (for those that remember him) R.I.P Andy
