Like Lee Mason when he told Arsenal to sub Coquelin so he didn’t have to send him off and like Moss last season when Niasse dived it’ll just be forgotten about. Standard Premier League reffing.

So we played 10 men for 2/3rds of the game and lost 2-1 in that time but we’re blaming the ref! Clutching at straws.

Yeah. He only had an hour to overturn a 1-0 deficit vs 10 men, but failed miserably & we lost 3-1. Their 2nd being scored whilst having 9 men on the pitch. But yeah, blame the ref. Definitely not Roy’s fault.

The very last touch of the match was a second penalty to Palace as Wan Bissaka was shoved over in the box but Friend just blew for full time.
That is why VAR has been delayed, purely to avoid showing just how dreadful and possibly biased referees are!

Let me just clarify, us conceding a second from a corner when a player was left unmarked, with us having 2 extra players on the pitch is Roy’s fault?

How that is anything other than the players fault 100% is beyond me. I suppose the 3rd was Roy’s fault we were 2 on 1? Roy’s poor touch to set up the shot was poor i’ll give you that.

Tomkins has his worst game in a Palace shirt yesterday, AWB also. They had 3 shots on goal and scored with all of them. Couple that with the ref gifting them one of those,

The fact is, our ‘squad’ is poor and the decent players we do have all had a shit game together.

Idiot not reading thread shocker.
Where has anybody said we deserved to win?
People on this thread have pointed out that we were crap but that does not excuse this ref's even worse performance.

You’re right, we were poor, we didnt deserve to win.

BUT, the ref did gift them a 1-0 lead. Brighton didn’t earn that, it wasn’t well worked or created by them, an incredibly poor decision gave them it.

Without that poor decision the game is an entirely different one.

The manager could not control the mental collapse in the 2nd part of the first half. It is ridiculous to blame him for that. The players started with lead boots on and just as they seemed to be shifting them off their feet chaos ensued which WAS the fault of the officials and then we capitulated.

Roy's full interview now available on the Palace website nails it as far as I am concerned and pulls no punches. I am sure the players were given a rollocking at HT and at FT.

Without a shdow of a doubt Roy has had us playing some of the best football in living memory but he is also is unable to react to things unfolding as he is not perfect. However, everyone's response to a bad match is get rid of the manager. It is boring.

As always an over reaction on here. Brighton defended well and had real desire. The ref gifted them the first goal which was actually a foul on McArthur and the second goal was not a corner because the Brighton player just hoofed it off for a goal kick. The defending from the corner was bad by Tomkins and the third goal was poor from Tomkins and Sakho looked like he had forgotten how to run and Wayne dives over the ball. The real issue is that we don't have a striker and the squad is unbalanced. Woy needs to take some responsibility because last night was not an isolated event. We have been below par all season.

WE WERE RUBBISH AND DID NOT DESERVE ANYTHING BUT;
1 truly awful penalty given to kick start Brighton scoring.
2 2nd goal was not a corner but a free kick.
3 Brighton were allowed to time waste from 20th minute on with no penalty. Yes, Friend waved his arms about and pointed to his watch a lot but considering how many times Brighton players were shot by that sniper and the resulting minutes of rolling around on the floor, the extremely slow walk off the pitch, and then another minute then moving a free kick taker from the other side of the pitch to take the kickonly 5 minutes extra time given. 6 subs. Lost ball. Brighton allowed to kill the game. No cards for the time wasting.
Don't get me wrong, even if he allowed the correct 15 minutes of extra time it would not have made a difference to the result but ******* penalise the ***** for doing it. As it is, he has vindicated their tactics.
4 Luka penalty spot shit. He had to give the blatant penalty on Wilf but he did everything he could to put extra pressure on Luka before he took it.
5 As ever Wilf and others hacked down time and time again, when he gave the fouls he did not give Brighton any reason to stop committing them by using those card thingies until too late in the game for it to stop them getting away with it. In fact 1 time when Wilf was hacked, he played on as the ball was out of control and went over the line. Did he bring it back for the obvious free kick- no. He gave a goal kick.
In effect he enabled Brighton to play that way, did nothing to stop it but everything to encourage it. Their man of the match.
6 Quick enough with the cards when it was a Palace player. Could not get the card out of his pocket quick enough then.
Our players played badly but how much of that was from an expectation that this ref was going to screw us over like he has done in the past.
FRIEND OF BRIGHTON. THEIR MAN OF THE MATCH.

Can I play devils advocate? There's way too many people here saying we shouldn't be blaming the ref and we were just really poor, even against 10 men. We were awful for the first 15 minutes but actually, after that patch, we weren't THAT bad. We just couldn't break down a hard working, organised side that parked the bus. We had 86% possession in the second half but just lack the incisiveness (and a striker) to open up a defence, especially one that is sitting so deep.

As poor as we were, it would have been a completely different game had the referee not given the initial penalty that so clearly should never have been. He's got to take a portion of the blame.

When Wilf gets taken out by March it is no foul. When he slips into March it is a yellow card.

The decisions he gave our way are so stonewall not even a blatant cheat could have failed to give them!

We get a lot of poor referees, the standard is poor but his persistent decisions given against us and Zaha can only be explained 1 way.

This is despite us being poor, especially the manager tonight.
I am not normally one to particularly criticise the refs but he was nothing short of disgraceful last night. Our performance was poor, no doubt about it, and over the piece Brighton deserved the win but the critical moments and decisions were refereed appallingly.

How he missed that McArthur touch I will never know.

If part of the ball is over part of the spot, then it is in the right place.
Even the commentators were bemused by his calling over the captains constantly for nothing.

Usually i would say incompetent but he ALWAYS is in our games and ALWAYS in favour of the opposition.

There was also a ridiculous moment late in the game when Wilf turned just inside the box to retrieve the ball from just outside the box, the Brighton defender grabbed his arm and pulled him back and the ref gave Brighton a free kick.

If it was a foul it was by the defender and, as it was inside the box, it was a penalty. The softest penalty of all time maybe, but still a penalty. Yet somehow he gave them a free kick. Bizarre.

There was also a moment when Wilf blitzed passed a March (i think) and was poleaxed down only for Friend to award a goal kick.

It was so ******* blatant as well.
