I thought ours would be even higher tbh, considering what benteke and sakho alone cost.

Wot like He did with Sorloth . He’s hampered by the squad , but also his own failings

Indeed

I don’t think Sakho has been a terrible signing. Average to good I would say.

Benteke on the other hand ....

One season of Benteke was worth the fee alone. We would have gone down without him.

FYP summed it up well.

3 Main players all on 100k +

Wilf - worth it.

Benteke - Not worth it.

Sakho sometimes worth it.

I think we all know that all 3 need to be playing well or we are gonna have issues.

There isn't likely to be an answer beyond something along these lines. We don't see their actual payslips and i am sure some reports are wildly inaccurate. However i have seen he is one of the higher earners at the club.

e.g. this one has it at 56k and that's from a quick google. There are lots of these kinds of sites

Does anyone have the wages comparison between us and Bournmouth? I know they do pay high wages - this is how they got the likes of Wilshere and Defoe but my suspicion that they also have a lot of players that have been with them since they were in the championship and who are earning a lot less. Our problem is that we seem to have many fringe players (Schlupp, Mutch, Riedewald) on big salaries.

Only if we removed his goals from the equation

Had we signed someone else, they may have scored more, or less

It’s a complete unknown

The super-judgemental laddies on here, won't appreciate what they have until it's gone.
This time last year they were all going on about "60 mins Cabaye" is well past it.

Id imagine their wagebill is less than ours, we've been up longer than them and pay fringe players too much for what they deliver. Bournemouth survived by being physical and using their pace at the other end. Now they seem to be getting better players. 6th place suggests so anyway. Weve not signed many decent attacking players, focussing mainly on defensive ones. Going to need a decent transfer window or a lot of luck.

Personally, I'd love Sakho to stay on, but those wages are preventing us from having the kind of squad needed by an established PL club. The last window highlighted this, maybe January too. I realise Zaha and Townsend are on big wedge too (nobody would pay for Bentekkers now), but Sakho has got his Eye on Champions league football.

I believe we could do better than Freedman, but to be fair to him, RH is always referring to Freedman delivering the goods (that maybe blame shifting).
My hunch is that Sorloth was a RH target (he has said so/the whole Scandinavian connection), but that he badly overestimated how quickly Sorloth could be brought on - and he seems exasperated by that.

Let's not forget that Max has specifically referenced Freedman's influence in persuading him to come to Palace, that is a definite feather in Doug's cap in my opinion. I guess the whole Kouyate/Antonio thing was a team effort, with RH mentioning that he rates Kouyate highly.
