Enthusiastic amateurs is the absolute best description for our current regime.

[QUOTE=prizesucker;14533320]Facts are the club is still dealing with the crippling financial burden one Mr A Pardew imposed upon it (with Parish's blessing).

True, we messed up the consolidation period when we had headroom in our wage budget and transfer money to spend. Annoyingly, Brighton seem to be navigating this phase rather well.

Not much room for manoeuvre in the finances now and probably too late to rectify the situation. SP’s legacy unfortunately may be passing the club to apathetic foreign ownership rather than a new stand.

Just read this in an article

The truth is that only 14 Palace players have started more than two Premier League games this season and never have they needed Christian Benteke more. That’s not a healthy place for any manager to find himself.

Agreed

Whilst I get your sentiment, it's also not exactly going to make them try very hard if they do have to go on.

Also said that everybody knows we have not got the type of players who can come on and change a game .

Personally I would have brought on Sorloth and Ayew . Brighton were obviously going to sit back in 2nd half and maybe 2 forwards in box may have given us a chance .

However what does that really mean for Sorloth and Ayew . Also Riedawald , Williams , KaiKai and Puncheon - is it a message to all of them ?

A few weeks ago , I did hear Roy say that we had quality strikers on the bench in Sorloth and Ayew ? - not sure he believes that . One thing for sure is that it looks like we need quite a change round in Personnel at end of season .

He could have used subs to change the formation though? Gone 3 at the back and played 2 wing backs and 2 wide players to give us width and an overload wide with Sorloth or Ayew up front. It does sound like he has given up.

I presume you mean in terms of freeing up wages? Because it's very hard to see any other clubs paying transfer fees for many/any of them.

Same. It tells the subs to prove him wrong in training too, while making the obvious point to the board that we need at least one pacy goalscorer and set piece expert now or we will be on 24 points after 30 matches.

If he played 5 at the back and Ayew and Sorloth up top he would have to remove three players from the team. Probably Townsend, McArthur and Meyer or Kouyate and would have to play Zaha in a very strange position. Plus Kelly is not better than Meyer, Townsend or Jimmy, so that would have made the team a lot worse

Bearing in mind that we were 3-0 down against 10 men who were just going to sit in for the whole half I’m not sure why going 3 at the back would have been such a huge issue for us. Kouyate or Luka could have dropped back into a 3, the fullbacks push up, Zaha and Townsend go wide with one of Ayew or Sorloth in the middle.

And we’d have lost 4-0 and be even more distraught

Yep. He was right in the sense that, if you are going to continue to play exactly the same tactics then why change personnel?

Even after we went more "attack" minded by bringing on Sorloth we still played four at the back and the wide-men still played intricate passing triangles to try and cut in from wide and shoot. There was literally no point in bringing on a big man when we were not crossing the ball into the box at any point.
