I wonder what tactics Klopp and Guardiola would use when faced with a thin squad, injuries in a key area, and no money to buy players. |

Look, I want to beat Brighton as much as anyone, but we are just as capable of mucking up against them as anyone else and lo and behold we did. We have a thin enough squad as it is, I don't think getting sent off is clever or demonstrates someone 'cares' |

According to the Standard, Dann and Wickham are just "slight doubts" to be available. Of course, doesn't mean they will be in the squad.

'14:05 Quality
I don’t think we lack quality, but I will accept we haven’t been as good at converting chances. With Wickham coming back, and Benteke not that far away, Ayew playing well and Sorloth getting better, I don’t think it is right to discuss the paucity or lack of goals from our forward line.' Good Lord.... |

Play Zaha up top with Sorloth until CW/CB fit. Have Wilf playing as a false 9. Let Sorloth do the donkey work.

Play him back on the wing, it’s where he is best. |

Zaha can pass. His all round game has improved. I’ve seen him play through balls to PVA a few times for goals. We have no pacy striker, so oppo defences can hold a high line

The last thing you want is him moving the ball on. You want him moving into the box at speed with the ball.

Indeed, an idiotic idea imo

Harsh. To make him play pass and move alone would be idiotic, but as a false nine there's no reason he can't do both that and dribble in from wide areas, with license to drift. He will be heavily marked so he's not always going to be able to run at defenses, hence the ability to probe with or lay the ball off becomes fairly important.
Anyway it's all fairly academic as he will be up top with AT |

He can do both. If Wilf tries to run with the ball every time, he will become one dimensional. Against Man U, he out muscled Matic and played a lovely thru ball.

I imagine Roy and most other managers hate being asked repetitive loaded questions every week from insatiable media outlets trying to create news where none exists, and that he doesn't want to alienate his players, but he's losing credibility making statements like this. I would have more respect for him if he just refused to answer the question. |

Wilf himself says he wants to play central

Got to agree with you on this, plauer salaries being bandied about without proof is a joke. Especially when they keep repeating the same amount.

Wilf always was a striker until Dougie Freedman gave him a wing role to give him a better perspective on forward movement.
Roy said this week that he sees Wilf as a striker, that is where he can hurt teams in and around the box. Generally central defender's are not as mobile as backs and wing-backs as they are the tallest and slowest players and this makes them vulnerable against pacy talented strikers. COYP |

Roy, for his perceived dodderyness, is no mug.
He can't exactly say that: Benteke's heads gone Wickham won't return at his best Sorloth and Ayew are duds. Despite perhaps what we all think These press conferences are smokescreens, much like what you find in parliament
