Are we skint? - Why are we skint?
We spent next to nothing on his last 2 windows and recently Roy hinted that we should not expect much this Jan either.
Now I know we spent a lot on Benteke and Sakho and Sam spent 40 million in his window... But does anyone else wonder why with so much TV money we are currently in this predicament? Is it all down to wages? Are we clobbered by FFP? Have the Americans (billionaires) tried to stop the spending? Anyone know what's going on...? |

Sakho, Benteke and Wilf are about £400k a week in total. A club out size can’t fund a squad when you have a small group of players paid that much.

and there were some who wanted to give Sako (who can't even get a game at WBA) another contract (he was reputedly earning 62k in his final year with us).

what happened to the other 20%? It's just profit for parish, on top of the huge money he has rightfully made for getting us thus far. If he's going to spin the 20% profit as being down to FFP he will be thought of in the same way as Noades and Jordan in no time at all. We won't all fall for the spin. That 20% to bring in the right attacking players is just what we need. Open the cheque book or sell up to someone who will.

The bottom line is we have spent a lot of money on fees and wages for players who either aren't of first team quality, have lost form or have been unlucky with injuries.
In addition to this, our attempts to sign cheaper young players with resale value have mostly failed, and apart from AWB we've failed to take advantage of being located in one of the most fertile areas for footballing talent in the world. There are teams that have had worst transfer dealings, and the fact we've neither spent to the point of potential extinction or been so tight with money that relegation is guaranteed is a relief, but by and large we haven't been up to the difficult job of finding PL-level talent at a decent price.

If he had been here under Hodgson he probably would have been more motivated and done well. do you not rate his ability? And what's his replacement Ayew been like in comparison? I'll answer that: much worse.
