If the link I provided is true we spend we spend 240 grand a week on injured players, Dann, Wickham and Benteke.

Jaïro Riedewald £7,900,000 - not good enough for the first team
Alexander Sørloth £9,000,000 - not good enough for the first team Jarosław Jach £2,750,000 - barely good enough for the Turkish top divison Christian Benteke £27,000,000 - huge loss of form, injuries Jeffrey Schlupp £12,000,000 - only good enough for the bench Connor Wickham £7,000,000 - long-term injury Zeki Fryers £1,500,000 - barely good enough for league one Jordon Mutch £5,750,000 - no comment necessary Pape Souaré £3,400,000 - long-term injury, not in first team Lee Chung-yong £1,000,000 - failed to make first team That's nearly 80 million in transfer fees on players that aren't starting games. But it's mostly the wages, I should think.

Spunking money in absolute shit is why we're skint. Think that pretty much sums it up

When CPFC2010 split it was like when Take That split, but we got left with Howard.

The worst reading is Mutch being paid a guaranteed £7.28m thanks to Pardew, Puncheon getting the same. The figures appear to be wrong in some respects Ayew isn't on a 4 yr contract and Puncheon isn't 38 years old, so some doubt on other figures. |

I'm sure there has indeed been dollops of bad management mixed in the bowl, but fans can't have it both ways.
The key reason appears to be wages, especially those being paid to Benteke, Sakho and Zaha. It's very easy to now be blaming management for agreeing such wages. But I certainly recall many on these forums complaining about the lack of transfer activity, and when the name of Benteke, and later Sakho, came up there were lots of comments along the lines of "Why do we always take so long to get signings over the line? Just pay them what's needed to get them here" Similarly, when Wilf was negotiating a new contract, I don't recall reading many comments that we should let him go rather than pay him on a par with what he can get elsewhere. Rather than that, I recall people urging the management to spend "whatever it takes" (a phrase I read often) to tie him to the club As I said, I'm by no means suggesting financial management has been good throughout. Far from it. But I also think there is some hypocrisy creeping into certain observations |

We have the 8th highest wage bill in the league.
Says it all.

Nor can I but I can work out that the club has wasted money on sick notes and rubbish players.

Most of our players are gutless bottle jobs. Overpaid and generally shit. But they keep picking up their huge wages and they'll bottle it again next week.

I was wondering who's paying the stewards' wages at West Ham today. There must have been about 20 on each corner from the station.

..but if we hadn't bought the likes of benteke and sakho and paid wilf a high wage to keep him there would have been about 8 zillion posts on the BBS complaining that the board lack ambition
