Bayern Munich's cheapest season ticket is €140 Huddersfield the cheapest in the Premier League at £249. Why are we paying double that for our cheapest seats. Last edited by les aigles; 10-12-2018 at 05:13 PM. |

My season ticket is £315.
What you have to take into account at clubs is how many cheap season tickets are available at these low prices quoted which is classed as their lowest price season tickets. |

Our problem is that we spend a much higher proportion of our income on wages than almost every other Premier League club. We had about the 9th largest wage bill in the division last year and all of the 8 clubs with higher wage bills have larger incomes than us. Actually, I am pretty sure that last season we had the highest wages to income ratio of all 20 clubs. We are underachieving relative to our wage bill and have done so for a couple of seasons.
With such a high wage bill, we would be hurt more than most other clubs by relegation and have to take the most dramatic action if we did go down. This leaves little room to increase the wage bill - removing players from it before we can add to it is what we should be doing - but that is easier said than done. For example, which other clubs are going to match the £3m p.a. that Dann and Wickham get paid? The high wage bill plus the relatively small sums we have gotten in recent seasons from selling players means that there is very little left over to fund player purchases. We may need to sell a player for a sizable sum (Sakho?) if we want to make significant signings in the Jan window. Re Bayern - I have been to watch them a few times. Cheap compared to Prem to go behind the goals but similar price if you want a seat along the side of the pitch. This pricing differential is somewhat similar to how football was priced here when I first started going in the mid 70s. Cheap behind the goals. Higher prices for seats along the side of pitch. Yes, gate receipts are a low % of income for the smaller Prem Clubs like Palace. Our gate receipts will be £11m to £12m this season. Which would be about 8% of our total income. Parish has argued that because most of the clubs not in Europe get a relatively similar income from TV revenue, it is the size of non TV income that dictates if Palace can compete on wages and transfer fees with other Prem Clubs. And that if we ever want to stop being outbid by clubs like West Ham and Everton, we need to increase our sponsorship, gate receipts etc to what those clubs generate. |

Didn't Steve P make his fortune via a company that offered market placement assistance, promotion services, advertising, graphic design, etc. So we all know he can sell and promote an idea.

I think the club has to be challenged on these ticket prices.
Huddersfield are showing it's not necessary. Total rip off, no wonder there's negativity at times. Increased prices = increased expectations. Supporters got a cap on away tickets, time that happened for season tickets. |

Since promotion we have received over half a billion pounds from the broadcast deals
We have done little to earn it. It has been handed to us on a plate and we have pissed it all away

With the amount of money received from TV, season tickets ought to be heavily subsidised.

Wage bill was around £14m in season we got promoted.
£47m in first year in Prem. £68m in second Prem season. Around £100m mark last season. So, yes income has been huge since promotion but costs have risen almost as much. |

One of big reasons TV income is much higher here than in other European Countries is because the Prem League sells for higher price overseas as people like the atmosphere generated by almost full grounds. A lot of the Spanish and Italian games are played in half full stadiums. So we should get highly subsidised prices as we are "extras" in the drama. If we failed to turn up in large numbers then the value of overseas TV deals would quickly fall to same level as other leagues sell for. |

I suspect it's not far off the truth and it shows how mad our approach to transfers has been for years. We really are paying top dollar for a number of poor players who contribute very little.
