The past 2 performances have put us way off that now unfortunately.

Another year of scraping ten wins watching vastly overpaid players finally roll up their sleeves in the last three months when their pay packets are under threat? A club that looks pretty much the same off the field from when we got promoted? I agree if we get relegated we will stay down for a long time. But if this is the carrot... the Premier League 'dream' I'm not that bothered... |

I kinda agree with the sentiment of the opening post and feel like many of the problems/frustrations we currently face are due to SP's drive and ambition to be something bigger, quicker. The lack of infrastructure and imbalances in the squad are characteristic of trying to make large strides forwards rather than looking for sustainable growth.

Thought this season we could have a fairly stressless season but no this is Palace!
What are we going to do give up or get up off the ropes and fight our way out of it?! This time i can't see a change in Manager is the right thing to do. Who is there out there better than Roy and team? Burnley was superb but we can't throw everything out now after some big disappointments. |

It’s of course undeniable that we are primarily a championship outfit. However after being in the Prem for such a decent stint now and with considerable investment in players. There has to have been a failure of some description not to have been able to establish ourselves in this division. History simply doesn’t come into it.
Of course there is going to a be a return to the championship one day but equally there is going to be some criticism for whoever’s watch it happens on and rightly so. |

We have no reliable goalscorers, and that includes CB and CW.
Very hard to keep surviving, year after year, on that basis. If we survive, great, but it won't change the problem: if we don't, costs will be cut and we'll all look on the bright side, come next August. |

Maybe its a new way of respecting the point...by giving it a good fingering

Due to FFP, Palace simply do not have the spending power of many clubs in the Premier League and that is why we cannot have the strength in depth that they can enjoy with players in reserve to come on and change games.
Palace also are not in a position to rest players even if they are not fully fit as we cannot afford to have like for like players of similar skill on the bench. Until Palace can generate a bigger club generated income they simply cannot level the playing field when it comes to player recruitment in the transfer market. Many clubs in the Premier League generate over £50m in club revenue and Palace by comparison generate £12.5m which severely limits our spending on players and their wages and because of this aspect having very rich owners does not mean that we can just splash the cash even if we would like to Palace are not in a position to spend millions in the transfer window and rumours of big money signings are pure fantasy. |

But we have made big signings - whopping ones. In fact we’ve been arguably too extravagant, splashing out on a 28m centre back and a striker for about the same. Whether we’ve got value from those signings is debatable.
If we’d adopted a more coherent recruitment strategy we might now have a more balanced squad with strength in depth, and we’d be in control of our ridiculous wage bill. Plenty of other clubs our size have done this - to cite FFP is a cop-out. Short term thinking around the club’s infrastructure is to blame here, We’re not in this position because we haven’t spent money. We’re in this position because we haven’t spent it well. |

As I said it's now all down to the board and recruitment team , and the past record ain't that great . |

As opposed to them working their socks off for the cause in the Premier League?! Let’s face it, we have bought a lot of players who are not particularly committed to the cause. |
