Any creativity in terms of assists / goals would be a bonus, but we desperately need someone with a bit of composure on the ball.
I am hoping for the same TBH. Agree with the description too. He was also the player that could read and change the pace of the game with where and when he would be passing. He did the same with his pressing and no one better at blocking off a players forward passes and then closing that last 2 yards to break up play (we are really missing this because we seem to always drop deep now with little variety). All subtle stuff I guess but in its own way as important as a mazy run and badly missed. IF MAyer can bring that we should be OK. I can see him playing in the Ruben role first though.

That certainly seems to be the case based on his substitute appearances so far.

Even in a 442, I hope Wilf often pulls wide and fronts up defenders, playing with his back to defenders is not his game.

The aspect I like of 442 with 2 defensive midfielders is it means our fullbacks can attack with width and pace and in AWB and PVA we have two great attacking full backs

Well, we saw a glimpse of what he has to offer. Changed the game when he came on. Tempo was suddenly higher and we looked dangerous. Real cause for optimism.
