Does anyone know what the outcome of his court case with Paul Scally was?

To view the link you have to Register or Login

The court was read part of a statement made by Scally in which he said: "He told me if I didn't pay him 200,000 he said he had a suitcase of stuff he would give to the police and inland revenue. I remember thinking, 'I need this like a hole in the head'. The biggest game in the club's history was four days away."

Scally sacked Pulis for "gross misconduct" and later accused him of trying to line up a job elsewhere while still managing Gillingham, citing Bristol City and Stoke. In an acrimonious court case Pulis, who was claiming 400,000, alleged financial irregularities and was in turn accused of trying to blackmail the chairman out of 200,000 using documents stolen from the club, which he denied. After four days Pulis accepted an out-of-court settlement of 75,000.

But even though he had great success keeping us up,i think his chances will be limited.Top teams forget it.Middling teams like soton, swansea, newcastle don't have the playing staff and style to suit him and wouldn't want to change unless sudden desperation sets in.

Even teams who may find themselves in the battle, may not want to go down the defensive, surrender possession, fill the team with athletes route,as sunderland proved last season.

So that leaves the teams who are likely to struggle.Burnley would be mad to sack dyche whatever happens.Leicester and west brom are possibilities, though leicester are quite attacking and have shown long term faith in pearson. But i think west ham is the one. They play shite football and it wont be a shocking transition, plus the owners have money to burn.

Personally i'm glad he's gone,he was never palace, babbled on about stoke all the time and never spoke as if he was part of the club. And he also left before he could strip the club of flair players, small players and trash the youth system, which he wouldn't have used much anyway.
A lot of this.

In the beginning, earlier posters are right to say that we needed him more than he needed us. However, it's his loss now. He had the chance to become a legend and change the face of English football (our approach to getting value in market x TP's Dortmund-esque approach).

Did he get that or is he really only all about how many millions he has in the bank aged 70? Surely you can only become so rich before the addition of zeroes start providing diminishing returns to your standard of life? What about the personal challenges; once he's paid his bills, what is he getting out of bed every day for?

Maybe he's happy with being the extravagantly-rewarded firefighter every six months. That's fine but he's never going to be anything other than a footnote in history in that case.

.
Equally applies to Dougie and hundreds others in the English game.

When you are retired or done with football would you prefer to have 5 million in the bank and go back to your former club and be treated like a hero whenever you fancy it or maybe 10 million in the bank but nobody likes you anymore because you walked out on them.

Huh? He was Stoke manager for 7 years. He is absolutely adored there.

When was the last time we had someone at Palace for so long?

Or was it because even the billionnaire family that owned Stoke chose not to sustain a 31m loss? Signed 'Money Grows on Trees Eagle'.

And that.

Anyway we look at Steve Coppell as a god like figure - They from what I know(My boss is a Stoke fan) think Tony was good manager but spent a lot....

They are glad because they are an established Premier club. They are in that position because they spent and spent wisely and had one of the best managers in the league for seven seasons. Their luxury of demanding more attractive football is only something they have arrived at because they built that foundation.
In short, staying in the Premier League is where it's at and to believe anything else or risk that status with a false economy is almost certainly doomed to failure.
