Unless they don't want to negotiate and are happy going to a tribunal. All they need to do is agree the package with Clyne and his agent, then let the club know what's happening.

Freedman played alongside Barnard (17 goals in 27 games for Southend) in a number of games at the start of the 2009 season.

In total they started together approx 6 times but Freedman was used as a substitute on a number of occasions either to play with Barnard or to replace him often in the latter stages of games.

The two players both scored in an early season match Vs Walsall in a 2-2 draw.

Barnard eventually left in the January of that season to southampton who he had played against in a 3-1 defeat..but obviously impressed despite not scoring......Part of the deal was to send Patterson in the opposite direction,,,,which also coincided with freedman making fewer appearances...

At the same time a young player named Stuart O'Keefe was beginning to make regular substitute appearances for Southend.

Perhaps we should try that sort of approach. Concrete would stop them running away to be fair, and we wouldnt need that much to catch wilbraham or connolly Barnard might require a bit more though.
