Odd old day at Croke Park on Sunday. Shot the minor final and had some nice celebrations during and after the match.

Then for the senior final I was on the managers again, which was pretty pointless for Jim Gavin. Even at the final whistle he had no reaction. Then the circus of chasing everyone around the pitch started.

Dublin winning is probably good for work as it means the trophy stays here in the capital for PR jobs, but my good it'll make Dubs unbearable!

They are unbearable even when they don't win

This is true.

My old man's Parish is An Fhairche which is on the border with Mayo, and is probably the reason why I'm loathe to shout for our near neighbours. And that you'd never hear the end of it if they did win. And because I am a typically massive begrudger.

It was like watching a young Donaghy, but with more mobility. Hopefully the child catcher in chief Tadhg Kennelly doesn't smuggle him on board the Hougoumont and whisk him of to Australia.

From what I heard he has been offered a move to Australia but he isn't interested at this moment in time. That's what someone from TG4 was saying shortly before the team's arrived.

Galway's youngster Cillian McDaid (Seba, you picked him out earlier on this year as one to watch) is currently on a plane to Australia with AFL trials lined up.

Ahh yeah, remember him. Was the match away at Leitrim I think where I was impressed. Shame, as he was a real talent, but at the same time I can understand the lure of a contract in Oz.

Owen Mulligan claimed his first senior county medal at the weekend, kicking the winning free for Fulham Iri$h v Tir Chonaill Gael$ in London.
He joked afterwards that when the free was awarded he was looking for Peter Canavan to come and take it.

Seba, are they sending you down under to cover the International Rules?

I'm not too fussed on these fixtures, although I don't mind the Hurling/Shinty mash up.

Bump for the new season.

Sorry Selhurst, missed your question. Think that was around the time I was in Lisbon for the WebSummit and then Denmark for the ROI match. Was a mental week.

New GAA season kicked off end of December, everything is a bit earlier this year. Been sent to Connacht a few times for leagues matches already; Sligo v Galway (game moved), Leitrim v Sligo (game postponed) and Sligo v Mayo (games moved twice!) today. Ended up doing a tour of deepest Sligo this morning looking for the match!

This time of year is a great time to be getting some more of the arty shots for the book we produce each season. Hopefully this one makes it in.

Gaillimh abú! Great win. The last 15 minutes was just a mass brawl, but a great win. 3 out of 3 & retaining top flight status is looking good.

Hard luck to Liam Mellows in the club hurling semi final yesterday. Cuala v Na Piarsaigh to meet on St Patrick's Day.
Best of luck to Corofin next weekend in the football.

Saw some of the photos from the match. Great sequence of an off the ball 'tussle' on the back of the Indo here.

I've read that Brogan has done his ACL. Tough break for the lad. It won't stop the Jackeen Machine from another All Ireland as their conveyor belt of talent continues to produce, but a shame for the player all the same.

Yeah, the trees and the other snappers annoyed me. Only really works because the little tunnel is flooded.

Think that was shot at Ballina Stephenites.

NUIG will play UCD in the Sigerson cup final on saturday. The first time the Galway students have reached the final in ages, so best of luck to them.

UCD will be missing Liam Silke as Corofin are playing Moorefield in the club All Ireland semi final on the same day. Molloy will be missing from NUIG for the same reason.

Then Galway play Roscommon in the FBD League final on the Sunday. The weather has played hell with the fixtures this winter.

In other news, ex-Palace legend Kevin Doyle has joined the Wexford U20s management panel. It's great to see him getting back into the GAA after retiring from soccerball with head issues.

And I'm hearing of a new Gaelic football club in South London called Wandsworth Gaels. I imagine they'll be more competitive than the british army team that started up a couple of years ago. Their shooting was dreadful.
