I couldn't remember the score, only that I had the flu, was standing in the rain and the only dry place to stand was in the toilets

Yes I remember being there and it was bloody cold? Loads of Palace fans as well but don't recall much about the game.

Millwall 3-0 in 94.
Next one was Arsenal 1-2 CPFC though. Talk about different ends of the scale.

Southampton at the Dell on boxing day 1971. Lost 1-0 to a Mick Channon goal. Went by Timpsons coaches from Thornton Heath Clocktower.
On Boxing day of 2011 I was on the WH coach heading to St Mary's.It was only on the way there that it dawned on me that it was exactly 40 years to the day that an innocent young 13 year old was heading to the same fixture but at a different ground.

Also at The Dell. but Sat 30th Jan 1965 in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Won 2-1 with goals from Cliff Holton & Keith Smith. Date notable in as much as it was Churchill's funeral that day, and also 2 days before my 14th birthday, so had hell of an argument with the prat in the ticket office at Norwood Junction who wanted to charge me the full adult fare of 14 shillings for the football special from Clapham Junction instead of the under 14 price of 7 shillings, so had to go home to get my birth certificate to prove my age.

York City in the mid 70's. I was at University at York and used to go to see City a fair bit. The old Bootham Terrace ground was lovely and the crowd was a laugh. You're average Yorkshireman is an acquired taste but the banter on the terraces could be very droll.

Can't remember, it was the late fifties, but probably Millwall, a very intimidating place in those days.

Manchester United, November 1990, we lost 2-0... First loss of the season, and a week after my first ever game when we beat Wimbledon 4-3 at Home.

Barnsley, 1989, 1-1 apparently - don't actually remember.
Best part of the match? - 6 months later seeing a 'Spot the Ball' entry with a picture of the match, with me and my mate visible in the background. Couldn't remember where the ball was at the time, so didn't enter that week. |
