Yes but it "wasn't for the want of trying" and what did we want palace to do, actually pay for someone?

Agree these were the priorities in the run up to the window but our form changed their urgency.

Was a keeper so vital? Speroni was fit and Hennessy playing pretty well. How many prem ready keepers were available mid season? Only Adrian if he hadn’t had got the no1 slot. Apart from that Prem proven keepers weren’t available. I don’t think any Prem keepers who were no2 are better than what we have, and if they are they aren’t going to be for sale in Jan.

As for CF similar applies. Look at Tosun. Basically the only way to get one who can walk in mid season is one already playing Prem footie and clubs won’t sell. Not to mention if they did they’d be Ulloah level players who we’d never be able to shift off the wage bill and still need time in a new system. I’d rather a Sorloth type over such an option unless a loan, which we couldn’t get domestically.

I get your point but a decent keeper has been at the top of our shopping list once we realised Mandanda wasn't up to it. Neither of our keepers are genuine PL level and should only be there as back up.

I agree there's no guarantees when signing players from lower leagues or abroad but on the same count there's no guarantees when signing players with proven Premier League experience.

We should've signed a keeper when we had a chance.

We all thought Begovic was a safe, good price, good deal. He has not been very good at Bournemouth though and looks like he wanted to return to the south coast. But apart from that there have not been affordable solid options in that position. I'd happily take one of the keepers from many of the teams likely to go down come end of the season
