You’ll enjoy this one - asked an Ipswich fan on Twitter about him. He said he’s an excellent shot stopper and great coming for crosses, but just under the level we would have expected of Mandanda |

Very happy to sign players that have won player of the year awards. Shows they are valued by their own club's supporters.
No need for Palace to join the premier league spending madness. Big money does not equal big success. Palace just need good solid professional footballers who can step up to a higher level. Fed up with palace chasing the same overseas signings as West Ham, Stoke and Everton. Quickest way to waste a fortune (which could build half a new stadium or reduce my season ticket price). Tbf neither's really helpful; they both show the absolute extremes and you can use selectively chosen clips to 'prove' almost anything. What we really need is someone who has watched him in full matches a number of times, preferably for a number of consecutive weeks; that's the way to assess a keeper's presence, consistency, how he reacts to his own errors and passages of play when his team mates shortcomings leave him exposed etc.

Well we had the stupid Steve chant before he did one thing and he proved the biggest waste of space besides Mutch ado about nothing

The joke was that people made the chant thinking it sounded good rather than like a load of inbred drunkards giving each other six.............. Very few have admitted to being one of that select group

Marseilles speaking to him illegally was true. But he played 8 games? I remember him playing well against Bournemouth and Middlesbrough in particular and keeping us in those games by making 1-on-1 saves, to name just two games. Yes he also had bad games but you give Hennessy much less flack when he’s made so many more. I’m not going to argue with you over it because you’re frankly a bit psycho when it comes to the topic. When it comes to the chant, the fans and players found it funny, what’s the harm in a bit of fun and welcoming a new player? Boring bastard. EDIT: and you still missed the joke |

But he is not going anywhere atm, sounds like they wanted 5m from wolves at the start of the season, so that is probably the starting point

Didn’t he play for the posh a few years ago? If so then from what i remember a decent keeper.

It improves the first 11 at relatively low cost, and gives us a good keeper who is unlikely to be banging on the door for a move if the worst happens, and who hasn't cost so much that it would be a problem replacing him if we stayed up and a really top option became available in the summer. If he's better than what we have, I'm not sure what there is not to like about this. |

Maybe, given Speroni's age, the strategy is to sign a long term No.2 who will be No.1 for 5/6 months and sign a genuine No. 1 in the summer. Shift WH when this guy comes in or in the summer and Speroni hangs up his boots.
Either way, we get a better combination of first/second choice keepers.
