Have to feel for Roy. Such a depleted side to work with and the Board and Judas still haven't worked out how to throw a six yet.

Would certainly prefer this option rather the the sums I've seen for a sicknote D Sakho. As Elgin says I'd like to see us invest in players like this. I suppose the value option is Babacar. Can't say I know too much about him but seems like we've been after him for a couple of years and his been given the cold shoulder by Fiorentina this season. His stats say 4 goals in 15 appearances all of which his started from the bench. Hasn't started one match playing just 375 minutes. There's a difference with Alcacer trying to get ahead of the likes of Messi, Suarez and Dembele who cost over £130m. Not sure what's keeping Babacar out

Walcott doesn't have the resilience to play for a lower side. Far too much of a luxury, wouldn't cope with defensive side of the game.
Plus we could do with a few players who aren't perpetually injured. |

I'm not negative at all. I'm expecting us to make 3-4 signings but it would be typical Palace if we reach the last couple of days of this window & we still haven't managed to sign anyone

We will make some signings this window, despite the predictions of various 'negs.'
However, it looks more like 3/4 than 6/7 as the thread title suggests and the recent spikes in performance in Hennessey and Sako, the prospect of Sakho and Townsend returning soon and Kelly, TFM, PVA and Riedewald staking solid claims for their spots makes it pleasantly difficult to see where that money should go right now. Certainly, it is less clear than a few weeks ago. I'm leaning towards going big on a striker and a quality AM with less money on a keeper and rolling the dice on the CB position but know we are relying on certain players continuing to play better than we are used to and other, unproven players continuing to do the business. Very shaky situation. Glad I'm not making the decisions. |
