Kenedy
With Newcastle looking at getting Souare on loan (and now apparently looking at Joel Ward too), also with Schlupp injured for a few months yet, maybe we should consider a bid / loan for Brazilian Chelsea Left Back Kenedy (Robert Kenedy Nunes do Nascimento).
He can also play Left Wing, scoring once in 3 EFL Cup matches this season. Needs match time, but obviously we already have RLC on loan from them, so if one of them could be made permanent he would be a good long term option at LB. (Just don't mention Snapchat or China)

He was abysmal in whatever Chelsea game I watched over Christmas/New Year.

We can't get another PL loan and why would we want to spend money on a permanent left back when we already have three at the club?

Wouldn't that leave us with PVA, and at a push Riedewald...or are we going back to Ward at LB? We can't call on the ever-impressing Fryers

The loan thing is an issue though, granted...as is whether he's abysmal

If it's going to make us short of left backs, then not loaning Souare to Newcastle would probably make more sense. We don't need to create a shortage where we currently have cover. If he's not yet back to form, why would he get that experience at another premier league club currently struggling more than us?

With schlupp injured we have to keep PVA & Souare.

We can’t have another January blowing all our money on left backs.
Bigger priorities in other positions. |

He looks shite, cant get another loan player, and more important positions to worry about.

Yeah, but Souare's loan, if it happened, would end. Schlupp will get fit again. Why would we want 4 permanent left backs?

2) Correct - this won't happen 3) We do, but if Souare does end up going to Newcastle, we will need a back up for PVA as we don't know how long Schlupp is going to be out for.

Souare is no longer good enough I'm afraid.
I wouldn't like to have to rely on him if PVA gets injured.

wasn't a deal to loan him to Newcastle all but finalised? Little bit surprised that they would prefer Pape to Kenedy, unless its a question of money, which it probably is.

I really rated him when he got a few games at Chelsea but he doesn't seem to have impressed since, either there or on loan. We'd need to research why this is (attitude?).
Man of great talent but I don't think we need his position. He's certainly more of a LW than a LB and we have plenty of them! |

Kenedy makes his team-mates "gasp" in training with his skills and flicks and in Brazil he was regarded as one of the most naturally gifted young players in the country before he moved to Europe. In the under-18 South American championships he was the star man, attracting interest from the world's biggest clubs - including Manchester United and Barcelona.
