He’s been banging them in. I haven’t seen much of him so can’t really comment on how good he is

We should just sign all of Peterborough's scouts.

Peterbrough seem to unearth good strikers. Him + another as striking reinforcements would be good.

Like Wickham, he came through the Ipswich Academy. He was loaned several times to Woking, so knows the area well.

Can't help thinking that it's a hell of a lot of money for someone who's been around the pro game for several years and the best he has to show for it is a very good half season in League 1. It could of course be that he's just developed late, and will make the step up, but two solid but unspectacular seasons in League 2 before this suggest that he may be a flash in the pan as far as higher levels go.
Of course, if he comes in and does an even half decent job at Premiership level, seven million will look cheap. But that's a lot of money for someone who could just as easily end up getting let go on a free a couple of years down the line. |

I’ve seen him a posh a few times. He is nowhere near Gayles level or evening Assombolonga. Finds positions but doesn’t do a lot else really. I prefer his strike partner for his industry (Danny Lloyd Mcgoldrick) but neither are premier league quality.

Their chairman is pretty active on Twitter and rates this guy higher than any of their previous gems they have unearthed inc the guy at Norwich who is doing so well. Seems to get on with SP as well and offered him the Norwich player before he lent to Norwich but we turned it down. I think it’s the sort of signing we need to make. If he works out in the prem then fantastic but if he doesn’t we will still have someone who can do a job for us if we go down.

Didn't he also say Gayle would play for England? |

And Gayle is a case on point. Okay in Prem for us, was a very good championship striker as the extra yard of pace he lacked was less exposed and we made a profit on him. Could do far worse no? Whoever Peterborough’s scouts are they are doing a superb job Of plucking unexposed talent as SP would call it.

We already have a Premier League player, who hasn't scored in 18 games, nor looks like scoring anytime soon, so I'd happily take a gamble on a not slow or not fast striker, who gets himself into the right positions and who knows how to finish.

Howeer lso means when they move (for bog money) and their new team is more balanced or builds from a strong defence it doesn't look like a great move. |
