Ashley Barnes
A report tonight that 29 year old striker Ashley Barnes could be a target. What with Ulloa and Barnes surely we can't go for two Weeds rejects. Whilst he has scored some important goals for Burnley, particularly against us, he has been merely a squad player this season and we need better.

It's the sort of signing we're going to make though. Brace yourselves.

I’d rather Ashley Peacock, and a falling tram flattened him very near The Rovers Return in about 2010.

I don't think he is '****' but I think he is slow. Begrudgingly as it is (because I have never liked him and positively disliked him at Weed) he is one of those irritating players that battles and is a pain to play against but also has a good touch and can finish. He also brings players into play around him. An old head but it is on old legs and there is no good asking him to sprint 40 yards back and then be on the end of a cross on the break. But leave him up there and hit it long and he will hold it until someone who can do that arrives.
If this was the Summer I would be saying 'no' but I can't see much on offer.

Don't think he's absolute shite, but certainly wouldn't want to pay 11m for him. At half that, I'd be happy to have him as part of the 25, but if Burnley get 11m for him,l they have seen us coming !

crikey - scrap what I said if the price is £11m. No way is he worth that.

This is the price clubs that are still desperate for players so late into the window are expected to pay for average players their existing clubs don’t want.

Yep. Great strategy leaving it until the final few days. We never learn.

£11m is steep but hes hard working and has started scoring this year. Rather him than Diafro Sakho
