And this is why leaving our dealings until now is a terrible idea.

more chance of signing Robert Baden-Powell which would go down well based on the sad state of some of our fans

I think Powell feels like a proper "Palace" signing. Highly rated youngster (possibly the highest rated in the country at Crewe). Went to United. Didn't make it. Attitude questioned. (we know someone else who did the same!)
Dropped down in quality and excelling - ready to be tested again. Provided the fee is reasonable I really like this one. |

Somehow Dario Gradi will ensure this doesn't happen.

Clearly talented, would be an interesting signing offering goals from midfield.
But would promotion chasing Wigan let him go ? And could we do it in the next 10 hours ?

Who left the dealings late? Us.... or the selling club? was it agents waiting until the last minute knowing they can get better deals for their players? It's not like Football Manager... we don't hold all the cards... we ain't Man City. This idea we intentionally leave deals to the last minute is silly.

There's always stories like this on deadline day. And they nearly all turn out to be rubbish.
Relax.

I remember we were interested when he went to Utd from Crewe - which is where the Gradi stuff came from (although his reputation has taken a battering recently.....)

I'd rather sign Hope Powell.

And for every Bamford, there is a Wilf. In reality, I have never met him so I have no idea what the truth is. All I am saying is he has dropped down the leagues torn it up and SAF had a pretty decent eye for a young player.
At the right price, it might be a good deal. |
