This is just one of many videos on You Tube of incidents and escorts at previous fixtures.

The video below is a clash at Kings Cross after both teams had been at separate away games. It is almost comical how such hard men are controlled by only 2 policemen armed with batons. Its almost as though they are desperate for the sound of approaching police sirens.

I have watched some of these videos and even recognise some faces from the 80's.
The only "trouble" I can see in the first video is police pushing people but I am guessing that the number of police at the ground will not be reduced.

The second video involves maybe 50 people long away from fixtures by either team so I am not sure how reducing the allocation for this fixtures is going to prevent this.

I have been to the Amex twice 3-1 and 2-0 and I am going this year, we had a slight altercation at the playoffs and this was after we had been held behind and were travelling on a club coach (for me public transport for this midweek is not worth it) which shows how useless the old bills planning is, we had to walk through the Brighton coaches to get to the official palace ones which is far more likely to create flashpoints that having an extra 1000 fans.

I have been going to Palace since 1984 and I am so glad it is not like it was (though I did get a massive buzz then) where you are not scared to go to any game but I am not sure that sterilisation has now gone too far with the intel and equipment available to the police if they cant allow 3k of members and season ticket holders to a modern stadium without thinking that they can easily control the crowd they must be really shit.

The first video shows Police struggling to physically restrain large numbers of opposing fans at Falmer Station.I do not see how this can be considered to be normal or only minor trouble.

The second video was not related to a specific fixture but was meant to show how 'tough' some of these groups actually are and often put on a show of bravado when protected by a police intervention.

There are several other videos on YouTube of the Police separating opposing fans during the escort to the station and while awaiting trains. Any such video requires either the combatants or passers-by to post them online but the now realise that this is often providing the Police with evidence.

I am not suggesting that these videos justify any restriction on numbers but they do show that neither set of fans are innocent parties.

If this is the way police decide away ticket allocations , I expect millwall to be given no more than 30 if we play them next season.

Rest assured those slags will be given 5,000 for their cup final.

The big grand Kent day out.

To be fair the 3-1 game was all over the local news down there and Sussex police described it as the worst football violence they had seen down there. From speaking to people who were in the West Street escort it did get a bit out of hand with bottles being hurled from both sides each time Palace went past a pub on their way up to the station. What I don’t really understand though is that we then got 3,000 for the next game down there (although that was a Sunday game). Maybe the police then restricted the tickets because of the importance to both teams of that play off 2nd leg game. No idea why they have kept the limitation for this game though. Seems like overkill.

I'm not questioning what went on, but maybe if the police had shown some common sense and not marched the Palace fans directly past several home-only pubs it wouldn't have happened? JAT.

I lived in Brighton for five years. They could've easily marched our fans down a parallel road which has nothing but houses and offices on it.

Mind numbingly stupid.

West street will be worse this time around. Night game, People get brave and are more likely to lob stuff at away fans under the cover of darkness.

I have seen videos of the last two matches there and it looks like the police walk the palace fans up some side roads rather than up the main road. I was drinking in a Lewes so not sure.

I am sure if you look hard enough you can find video of anything on you tube I am sure there are many videos of the police mistreating fans far more than there are of palace misbehaving yet the police supported by the spineless Phil Alexander get what they want and good decent fans miss out '

Probably won't
It will be a bigger buffer zone.

Both police forces seemed happy with the way they handled the play off matches and seem intent on replicating the process. So hopefully that will include no increase in the sterile area's at each ground.

Doubt it. Because of the configuration of the away section and the AW generally, I'm not sure that they can just make those seats available to home fans.

Only if they give them the whitehorse for it. And that wont happen.

They have done in the recent past e.g Sunderland on the Monday night last season and West Brom on the Saturday lunchtime didn't take the full allocation so an extra half block was given to Palace. The problem is Brighton is riskier so the black netting might not be considered adequate.

I hope some of the Two Thousand going have it in them to sing a few of the classics towards that pony football team. "We can see you holding hands" & "Does your boyfriend know your here?" - Got to get an airing or is it even a Brighton game?
