That’s already been accounted for in the (net) £39 billion we owe them.

In theory the £39 billion should come down as we won’t have two years of transition payments but will still owe around £15 to £20 billion.

Peanuts basically for either side

Uk gdp 2,000,000,000,000 dollars
Eu gdp 10,000,000,000,000 dollars
The bill 22,000,000,000 dollars.

The bill isn’t important to either side. It’s what happens next.

If you ignore Brexit for a minute the Grieve amendment is genuinely fascinating... the start of a major shift in how the UK is governed.

Read an interesting article in the Mail on Sunday earlier today, suggested Brexit voters had 2 red lines, immigration control and physically leave Europe.

They also suggested that the 17.4 Brexit voters want not a one off, but a growing momentum citing the 900,000 votes cast in the 2009 European elections for the far right (BNP) and the 4m who voted UKIP for the same elections in 2014. Thoughts?

No deal is a bluff saying you have a pair of aces when you are only holding one card. Everyone involved on the EU side knows this, the vast majority of MPs know this, everyone who has done even a small amount of reading on the issues no deal would cause knows this, everyone who isn't a ****wit knows this.

One of the flexibilities of not having a codified constitution is that when you want to mess around with it, you don’t immediately get knocked back by a load o people shouting “That’s unconstitutional!”

Seems a reasonable conclusion. 4m is 7% of the population? Most (if not all) countries have 7% of the population that live in fear and ignorance. In times of economic hardship these fears can be played on. It has happened time and time again throughout history.

Wonder what people actually mean when they say this, and why?

Leave the EU?
Leave the CU?
Leave the SM?
Leave the Council of Europe?
Leave the ECHR? (Which we were the major player in setting up)
Leave NATO? ( loads of fears about an EU army, of course)
Leave geographically

Hahaha, good point. Maybe leave Britain, move to the US and help build the wall to keep immigrants and irony out.

Why ask me what has been agreed between the EU27 and the UK Government?

Don't tell me that you have been raging against "the deal" but not actually read it, including the Joint Agreement (on which it is based) which you have been able to read for over a year?

Let me help you: the draft Withdrawal Agreement is here, & the financial provisions start on page 211.

To view the link you have to Register or Login

You will notice, no doubt, that the final payments are net of any adjustments due in respect of certain processes like customs income (page 224), and things which we opted out of (page 226). Then the Union is also liable to the UK for various things (page 233) including the UK's share of capital for the EIF (page 244), ECB (page 249) and EIB (page 253), plus EDF investment (page 260).

You'll also notice that the final amounts will not be settled until 2028 (top page 225).

Finally, as you no doubt followed the Parliamentary debate closely (on the draft WA), you will know that the House did not object to these provisions.

That’s predictable - I can’t see how it can be renegotiated and she’s already tried “reassurances “ - she would better off calling an election and trying to form a government without the DUP.
