A rare mention this one but Mutch was very decent for Cardiff, absolutely shocking once he signed for us though

Razor Ruddock was always at the end of his career when he joined us. However, he managed to get well beneath the extremely low expectations I had of him.

Likewise with Shefki. who I actually saw score a goal at the Ricoh Arena.

Right, so we can't class him as a bad signing because we haven't gotten relegated yet, and could potentially turn out to be a decent signing four years later in the division below. We signed him for this division and bar his first month has been atrocious. It's like saying Ladapo is a great signing, we just need to get relegated to the Conference first.

Marco Gabbiadini effectively destroyed his top flight career by joining us.

Neil Ruddock added a footnote of lazy, overweight shite to his previously illustrious career with his 'efforts' for CPFC.
Agree with most of that apart from Gabbiadini who still got 1-3/1-4 for us despite us rarely playing to his strengths. Fans today don’t know how lucky they are watching today’s players even the average ones .

Calm down. The thread wasn't about bad signings it's about good players who played bad after signing for us...

Sako was a good Championship player who is likely still at that level

E.g. Paulinho to Spurs

Had hardly scored a goal in English football when we signed him (Carle). Either none or one or something, can't check right now. I could not believe we were spending what was then for us huge money on that type of attacking player. You know, an impotent one. There went Palace again lacking the very basics in common sense in the transfer market.

That one the only performance I can remember. To be fair, that game is not a good sample - It was the worst Stoke have played in years and everything came together for us that day - Rarity at the moment!!

Yes, I Lways thought at the time he was a good finisher, but he was literally totally ineffective and ugly to watch at all times other than shooting at goal! Regardless, his reputation had diminished greatly once he'd completed his stint with us. However, we will always have Anfield. A great day.

Always seemed to score against us, couldn't hit a barn door for us.

The tan was very unsettling. Reminded me of Alec Baldwin in a sauna

When we signed Carl Fletcher for £400k, I thought it wasn't a bad deal.

I was wrong. It was a terrible deal. Slower than tortoise in reverse.

What we got however...
Stuart Pearce, who is admittedly a poor manager, put David James (the goalkeeper) on instead of Macken when they needed a goal. That said all you needed to know about the guy. His record at PNE was great, but his ability and confidence just seemed to disappear after leaving them.

Still, he probably scored one of my favourite non-Palace goals when Man City beat Spurs at White Hart Lane, after being 3-0 down. This was after Barton was sent off at half time too That's when Man City were a proper team like us.
