Vince was my favourite player growing up as a kid. But Wilf is by far the better player by a large distance.

I adored Vince, but Wilf has turned into the player Vince threatened to become.

Both equally as good in different times.

if the old memory cells are not playing tricks today....
- Vince was a one good game in three type of player, - Wilf has become (certainly the last couple seasons) a two and a half in three type of player, As in-exile has alluded; difficult to objectively compare as different eras, fitness levels, organisation of defences, quality of pitches to encourage dribbling etc but i can subjectively say both got and continue to get me out of my seat...

Vince was a better crosser of the ball, but I think Wilf is better in all other areas.
Any stats for assists? |

Vince spent most of his career in the lower tiers. I loved him as a kid, but rationally Wilf is for me the best ever.

Wilf can’t do that funny little tackle and turn that Vince used to do... IIRC he used to do a sort of mini sliding tackle and emerge with the ball between 2 feet and scoot off... Probably a red card offence today...

Lets face facts, that question in a no brainer and one of them didn't have all the big boys desperate for his services.

Vince is my favourite all time player. The buzz, the skills, the afro! But if we're just talking ability, there's no conversation to have. Vince's talents sadly never fully flourished. Whether the fault for that lies with his own limitations, or whether he was let down by misguided or errant coaching is something we will never really understand. In terms of all time greats Vince will have to get in the queue behind Wilf, Kenny, Attilio, Wrighty, and probably about a dozen others in terms of actual quality.
But none have matched the actual joy of watching him in full flight for me (though both Wilf and Ian Wright have given him a run for his money!). |

Vince was a very good and tricky winger who could cross a ball, but Wilf is simply lightyears better.

Vince was also one of my heroes, but I think Wilf is the better player.

I think the only thing that could've swung it Vince's way for me is for a short time he was part of a very special team that was taking everyone apart as apposed to this below average team, at best, and it was my early years as a supporter so it was all fresh and exciting for me.
But For sheer consistency now that's starting to spread over a few years and much as it pains me to say it because like everyone at the time I loved Vince, it has to be Wilf. I don't believe in the one man team thing, but one man can make a massive difference and pretty much carry a team and that's Wilf for us!! |
