OK, but there's a difference with unwise and 'hateful'. Seems to me he was, inarticulately and clumsily, talking about moral decay and lack of traditional values and the danger of what can happen when a society turns away from its roots. Whether you agree with him or not, to label him 'hateful' for doing so is wrong IMHO.

I politely disagree. To talk about consensual homosexuality as a step towards allowing non consensual acts to animals and children. Is encouraging a level of hatred and totally out of order. He also at the time chose homophobic insults for other boxers on a regular basis.

Credit where it is due though if nothing else his experiences with class A drugs and depression. Appears to have taught him some humility.

The BBBofC have ordered Hughie Fury to defend his British heavyweight title against Joe Joyce next and also ordered Daniel Dubois v Nathan Gorman as an eliminator for the winner. Purse bids for both bouts on December 12th.

Doubt either will happen any time soon. Presumably that means Hughie vacates and Joyce fights anyone with the balls to face him. Which British fighter would take that?

Good analysis by Mickey Helliet on Fury v Wilder To view the link you have to Register or Login

He didn't mention anything about Fury ring rust which surprised me. If he has the stamina for 12 rounds and can box at the same level he did against Klitschko then I think Wilder only wins if Fury gets sloppy and why would he? If his stamina fades or his timing is off then Wilder wins by KO no problem. For me then its mostly a bet on Fury's stamina and ring rust and who knows the answer to that?!

Good fights IMHO. Gorman is a class act, DuBois will be a fine test for him. Fury vs Joyce is intriguing. Joyce looks juiced to me. Heavy hitter, but Fury a better technician no doubt.

Put a gun to my head i'd say a late round KO to Wilder. Certainly hope not though.

I would go for Fury, simply because he is more hungry and has a point to prove. Plus it is Wilder's to loose.

I’m just catching up on some of the boxing from last night. Miller is limited but very effective at what he does. Looks like he could walk through anything. I’d love to see him fight Ortiz.

First I’ve seen in Clarissa Shields and she’s probably the best female boxer I’ve watched.

I will have to do a youtube on Clarissa Shields, I have read some sports reports which have described her as good

I dont know how you can come that conclusion, or even if 'hungriness or point to prove' really matters unless one fighter has a lack of it. Neither of these will at all IMHO. I love Fury, but there's been an awful lot of hype for a fighter that, if you were being harsh has only ever really hit the heights in two fights. To go back in after such a long lay off, and two awful tune ups, is reckless, and possibly arrogant.

Interesting that he's brought Roach in as a 'consultant'. Bit of a snub to Davison, merited IMHO. The guys had one awful fight with BJS as his most high profile fight before two very poor showings with Fury. Yes, a great motivator, conditioning man, lad to have around camp. But seems when push comes to shove, he's not really being trusted to deliver.

One key thing about corner work, is to have one clear voice. A fighter returns to the stool, for 30 secs, often dazed, adrenaline racing, all the rest. To have differing voices in his ear is detrimental, even if they are both independently giving great advice.

I've gone from being cautiously optimistic for Fury, to reluctantly pessimistic.

Him 'walking' is actually running. He's just that f*cking slow... Awful fighter, against a semi-pro Romanian fireman. Typical Hearn DZN fayre. His video recently about 'its mad americans leave before the main event'. Not when the main event's any good they dont, eddie...

Ortiz would box Miller's socks off, even if he needed his Zimmer frame to prop him up....

I've just watched the Miller fight. My view is that when he fights anyone half decent he is toast.

Arrogant or (and it's crossed my cynical mind often) simply cashing in his chips with a payday.

I suspect the truth may lie somewhere inbetween. A no lose gamble on his chances. Win and he's at the top, Lose and he's paid out without the hassle of the type of fights he'd need to endure if doing his come back properly (some of which would present an element of risk if he's past it).

One thing is certain, you are not being harsh. Even if the now commonly accepted narrative of fury being this superb pugilist that is awkward as hell and hard to pin down, is true. He most certainly has only really put it into action in three fights for me. The two Chisora fights and the Wlad fight. The rest have been underwelming and in some cases outright concerning.

I probably won't bet on the fight but the only realistic considered bet is on a Wilder stoppage win in the second half of the fight. Everything else feels like a huge punt in the dark at this point.

I can see it being a stinker of a fight. Wilder hasn't much technique although has huge power. Fury will pitter patter away and try and steal rounds. Not sure that wins rounds with judges in the US. I can see alot of holding and filth happening. Who wins - I have no idea.

Fury's going to hold and try and lock him up at every turn. It's not going to an open affair at all. Anyone who lets Wilder have distance is asking for trouble. Will be a very interesting fight, even if one thats not easy on the eye
