Ah, memories of the Manor Ground and that away terrace

I remember going there for a match with Coppell in charge.
Funny old ground...but not so funny when I discovered that their loos had no lights working. |

That old terrace was great. Not been to the new ground, from photos it looks a bit like the New Den after Millwall fans have nicked one end!

We played them for the Kassam Cup to open the new ground in 2001 and following a 1-1 draw lost on penalties. Great days!

The irony.
I missed the pre season game in 2001 as had to go on family holiday after the tour to Spain. My friends Rick Ballantine and the recently departed Darrell Bourne have given me endless stick for the past 17 years on the back of it. I always said to Darrell you had better turn your phone off when we get them!!! Well we have at last. Yipeee. A glass or more (for those that know me) will be raised to our dear Darrell at this game as he would, quite frankly, of been gutted we have got them again!! To you my dear friend. Christmas 1984. Wish I'd given that a miss.
Never been to new ground. Is there still one end empty at the new ground? EDIT: Pinkie has already said.

Boxing day 1993. Another superb Palace away win.

The Oxford away game in the Spring of 1977 was the most bad tempered. The Palace fans were given half the home end with only a thin wire fence between us. When we walked out the back behind the stand at half time there didn't appear to be too much segregation.

I visited the ground a couple of years ago as a friend of mine Is a keen supporter - went up the m40 but came off the junction before and travelled by a and B roads to get there - parked near a school nearby.
Not much in the way of pubs close by - I got a drink from the club bar near the ground. Ground looks a bit dated now which is funny for a relatively new stadium but in reality it hasn’t really been maintained. To confirm only 3 stands in the ground

One of my favourite all time Palace performances was around March 85, Oxford had spanked an early Coppell side and were all conquering.
I went with my late Grandfather and was rewarded with a 1-0 victory courtesy of the much maligned Aylott, fond memories.. I think we sent a huge contingent around 94, think it was Eastern Eagles who reported that many were locked out and climbed trees to take in the action. "We are top of the trees, say we are top of the trees" was said to have rung around the old manor ground..

I think the 4-1 win there in 1997 is my best memor of the Manor Ground.

The first game you mention was at home, barely a month after they spanked us 5-0 or something at their place over Xmas of 84. They were a very good team that year under Jim Smith(if oldies remember him!). Second successive promotion for them.

Went to the opening game at this Stadium, main memory is all the piled bricks and gravel outside the ground! There was also no hot catering as they hadn't finished fitting out the food kiosks!
