Apparently Bo$tock got alot of grief from the Arsenal fans last night - they were singing "You money grabbing b@$£@rd" to him and his reputation is now set in stone.

Time to put that light back under the bushel Johnny boy!

Brilliant! That's made my day. Still, it won't be as bad as the grief he gets when he returns to Selhurst. I wonder if he's beginning to regret his decision yet?

I've never been overly keen on Arsenal (although Arsen has changed my mind a little in recent years). However its nice to hear that other clubs are sympathic.

Are there other examples of thing this of thing where a youngster gets snapped up elsewhere? Defoe was at Charlton was he not?

The worst example I can think of is when Chelsea tapped up three very highly rated youngsters (Tom Taiwo, Michael Woods and Danny Rose) while they were at Leeds.

Taiwo and Woods both went to Chelsea and Rose ended up at Tottenham. Leeds got around 4 mil in total for them which is no-where near what they were worth. The injustice is because these players haven't furfilled their potential (it's hard to when you're rotting in the Chelsea/Spuds reserves,) you could say the 4 mil Leeds got was a good deal, when infact, it's Chelsea and Spuds who have f*cked up these players careers, yet Leeds have to pay the price for the bigger club's incompetance.

And what was the outcome of the compaint Leeds made to the FA of the illegal tapping up of their players? It ended in an FA tribunal that judged that 2 financially affluent clubs should pay Leeds pittance for three players worth millions each. Chelsea and Spurs must be laughing.

And yes, I believe Defoe was originally at Charlton.

So what happened to those players? Are they still there?

Reading the Arsenal website, have they forgotten how they went about acquiring Jermaine Pennant. They have short memories.

To be fair Wenger tried to do what everyone was doing at the time, he got his fingers burnt and hasn't done it with many English players again. I think Freeman is the only player in recent years.

After years of buying kids from abroad Wenger has finally started to produce what should be good English talent.....Lansbury, Wiltshere etc to add to the European team they have.

As much as I don't agree with how they have gone about it, you can understand that getting Fabregas for around a million can't be bad business as if and when he goes, it will be for a massive profit.

I think more criticism is aimed at Spuds and also Chavski as they are managing to ruin a lot of young English players' careers.

Both adrian durham and ian wright, said bostocks decision to leave palace and go to tottenham, a club with a poor record of bringing through youngsters, was the wrong one, loud and clear on drivetime radio yesterday.

£135k from what i understand is the maximum compensation for a player moving between European nations.

I believe they are still rotting in the Chelsea/Spurs reserves (with the occasional loan spell to a lower division club.) Whats annoying is these kids were getting first team games at Leeds (and not looking out of place playing first team football,) but thanks to the FA allowing money to dictate the game, these kids have had all their potential and most probably their careers ruined.

I doubt ytou are alone, in fact i know you are not but to me that is a crazy position to take.

Let me ask you if you had a decision to make, you were down to two options, one was in your opinion in your best interests and one was in the best interests of your employer which would you choose?

Michael Woods - was from Leeds i believe and was England schoolbay captain at the time i think.

Not played a first team game anywher ein the past 2 years, has just 2 FA Cup sub appearances to his name. Back when i saw him on TV in the Victory Shield he looked the nuts!

Now 19 and been on the pitch a total of 23 minutes!

Tom Taiwo and Michael Woods never played a first team game for Chelsea.

Jacob Mellis went to Chelsea from Sheff Utd as well and has amouned to nothing.

As for Bostock if he wanted to come back, id welcome him without a shadow of doubt. Give someone a second chance if they realised they made a mistake....plus he is an awesome player

This was obviously a very high profile case, but doesn't this sort of thing happen all the time?

I can't think of many off the top of my head, but Micah Richards was one who was 'plucked' from Oldham at about age 13 for just a 20% sell on clause or something.

I find Dingle's signature with the quotes embedded in it more annoying than Johnny Bostock.
