I think this view is coloured by wishful thinking from the UK media and a bit of a misreading of reality. The European Union is not really comparable to the Iron Curtain- really it isn't. It feels like the Brexit equivalent of those supposedly wishing for a messy depression in the ex-EU UK.

Certainly a large number want out of the Euro but I'm not aware of any widespread desire to leave the EU.
