There's normally one team that has a dreadful second half of the season ... put your money on Watford ... lots of injuries and not much quality

I'm hoping the Kone injury isn't a positive as I believe he was set to go to Afcon. If he is injured for a couple of weeks then they might decide to take someone else.

hull starting 11 arent a bad team and if they get a striker through the door can keep picking up points
swansea are the worst team in the league
Sunderland second worst
we have to fight hard ,missing Wilf is a blow
but i see Boro and Burnley falling away and we can survive ,but home form has to change just has to

Anyone know the last time that the bottom three on New Year's Day were all relegated?

Mboro and Burnley will fall away (not like MBoro are clear anyway), Watford I think will sink and Stoke aren't great - Will be v disappointed not be above all these end of season and Hull, Swansea, Sunderland as well.

Not sure if already mentioned but Burnley's points total has pretty much all come from beating sides like us and Boro at home. This year they'll have a far harder task potentially with the majority of the bottom half looking for revenge in their home games.

A few people have mentioned Burnley fading etc, but they are 7 points ahead of us already even if they have played more home games than away. They probably need only 15 more points, and their home form is that good that it should be more or less a matter of getting one or two positive results away only.

The worrying thing is that three of what we would consider to have been our peers in mid to lower table (West Brom, Bournemouth and Burnley) are well clear of us already. Obviously the bottom 3 at this stage look like they're in big trouble, if you look at the manner of their defeats and goal difference. Aside from that, Boro are a decent side, and like us, will feel that they haven't necessarily been getting the results their performances merit, West Ham, Leicester and Stoke will improve and have more than enough to move clear, but Watford look a bit vulnerable.

I see the bottom 3 as strong favourites to go down, with us, Boro and Watford fighting to stay clear. One thing is for sure, we have to wrack up around 16-17 points in the 10 games after Arsenal because that run in is awful.

Burnley only have 8 home games 2nd half of season and 5 of those are against top 6 sides. Their away form is dreadful 1 point this season. Suspect it will pan out at 37 points to stay up so Burnley are going to have to hugely turn their away form around. I think they will stay up but no better than 16th

It doesn't happen that often because usually at least one of the bottom three pulls clear and sometimes a mid-table side plummets. Looks like the last time was the 2002-3 season when West Ham, West Brom and Sunderland went down.

Yeah, I think we'll drop. There is just so much wrong with this team and squad at the moment. There has been for about 8 months - the cup run might have damaged us more than we could have believed. Kept Pardew in the job about 8 months longer than he should have been.

Have to say I am a glass half full guy and not too disappointed by the Arsenal result. Never expected to get a point there unless we got lucky and so it turned out. I do not think it is games against the top teams that will define us but games vs the lower & mid table teams. How we play against Swansea will really show what we are about. Thankfully no one, except Zeki Fryers got injured.

Our next 8 games could potentially keep us up. We need 13-15 points in them next 8 games. Wouldn't be surprised if we picked up 7 though

Hopefully Liverpool will trash Sunderland tomorrrow, and West Brom should beat hull.

We will win on Tuesday.

Don't let a bad result against arsenal derail our hopes, it's in our hands still and Sam will sort it out.

Keep the faith.
