It must be ******* awful enough to get kidnapped for six days by some nutter, terrified over what he's going to do to you. Then when the ordeal is over people deciding that you're a liar.

Then when a court vindicates you, for people to still keep at it.

So terrifying that you wander about shoe shopping with him.

Quote:
"After it emerged that the 20-year-old had been seen shoe shopping with her alleged kidnapper, Ayling is said to have burst into tears when questioned about the sojourn.

“Is it not strange that you went to buy shoes with your abductor?” one detective asked her, according to La Repubblica.

Ayling’s lawyer Francesco Pesce has admitted the case seemed bizarre and acknowledged investigators initially had “more than understandable doubts” about her story.

He told the Associated Press: “It seems incredible. A man kidnaps, together with others, a girl, and after a week, citing particular reasons, accompanies her inside a consulate… (and) practically hands her over to police.”

Yes. She did. It's almost as if complying with your kidnapper might seem a good strategy to someone who thinks it might help them stay alive.

She waited till she had a clear opportunity to get help, and she got it.

He's been sent down for 17 years.

This "why didn't you act differently" line of attack gets used a lot against female victims. Why were you wearing that. Why did you get into his car. Why didn't you scream.

Why did you go along with him and buy shoes.

**** that.

No I hear you, but surely the scepticism is to be expected (albeit not necessarily justified) given the remarkable set of circumstances. To the point that even her own lawyer said (and I repeat my quote), "Ayling’s lawyer Francesco Pesce has admitted the case seemed bizarre and acknowledged investigators initially had “more than understandable doubts” about her story."

So don't be too hard on people who remain a little puzzled by the whole strange affair.

Part of the reason for the cynicism about the kidnapping/abduction was her seemingly Care free unaffected posing half naked for the cameras after her escape/release. It seemed it was a publicity stunt. But we all react differently to events ...

Isn't that your own prejudice though? I mean, wannabe model poses for photos - isn't that kinda what she should be doing?
