SNP MPs walk out of PMQs

As yet not sure why exactly as I only caught the moment from just before Ian Blackford, The leader of he SNP in Westminster was ordered to leave the house for the remainder of the day.

I hope it was a justified reaction and not just showboating.

SNP MPs have walked out of the chamber following angry clashes between SNP leader Ian Blackford and the Speaker.
After saying votes on the EU Withdrawal Bill yesterday "silenced Scotland's voice" and that Westminster is engaging in a "power grab" he attempts to force a vote on sitting in private in protest.
After consultation with his clerks, Speaker John Bercow says that a vote can be held but that it should be held at the end of the session. Ian Blackford refuses to sit down and, after a lot of shouting, is ordered by the Speaker to "withdraw immediately" from Parliament for the rest of the day.
As their leader leaves, the SNP MPs also in attendance also get up and walk out of the chamber.

Over Brexit and the fact the SNP feel that the Government are making a power grab to take away powers from Scotland after Brexit and that no debate over it yesterday happened during the votes on Brexit issues. 'democratic outrage' according to Blackford.

Still not getting my head around it, but the Speaker did offer that it could be dealt with at the conclusions of PMQs and after Blackford refused to sit down, after numerous requests, the Speaker had no other option but to expel him.

The reaction up here to it will be interesting. It could be a massive own goal by the SNP or it will reinvigorate the underlying feelings that Scotland is being ignored.

I tend to feel, and I could be wrong, that it is more an own goal than one that will help to boost the ultimate aim of Independence. Could possibly be a score draw at best.

Yep - He had the chance to discuss it later and behaved like a petulant child.

Worried about Scotland being ignored - and then they walked out, ensuring Scotland could be !

I am listening to Blackford now, and I am still getting my head around it, and until I do, I totally agree with you.

This is an issue of trust, and the feeling that promises made have not been followed through on. Fair enough if that is the case, and I believe it is, yet not sure this is the way to have forced the issue, as it does scream childish. Lets see who comes out of this on top, but the timing of firing the gun by the SNP could prove to be totally wrong, which surprises me as the SNP has in the most part have been very clever in how they handle such issues.

Blackford obviously cannot, but other SNPs MPs it appears are going to retake their seats in Parliament today. So could be interesting to see if anymore dramas unfold later.

Looks like Westminster and the World Cup have something in common at last - no Scots attending.

Yes but nobody is listening. It needed a "showboat" display to get into the headlines today. The government are ignoring Scotland and are hell bent on a power grab affecting all the countries in the UK. We need more protests and passion like this, not less.

It needs to be handled carefully not simply by gesturing, particularly as they have a strong case, and the government needs to be held to account for ignoring Scotland and its devolved powers in the EU exit bill.

They would have been far better doing it in a controlled and measured way. I worry the manner they have done it proves to be counter productive. However maybe it will prove to be exactly the right course of action, but they need to explain in a clear and understandable way, why exactly they resorted to such action.

Was getting kicked out the best option? The motion would have been heard and he caused enough of a full at the most watched time of Parliament each week.

By walking out there was no motion, no vote as PMQs ended and they have failed to progress Scotlands interests today.

They also took a massive swipe at Labour accusing them of delaying tactics yesterday which was a significant cause of the lack of time for debate on devolution. SNP with Plaid support will not get them very far.

I think May is in a hugely vulnerable position, that Boris Johnson was probably correct in speculating it could end in meltdown.
The late-night voting shenanegans show May and the Government/Administration are walking a tight-rope, and with the DUP ready to scupper Brexit deals they don't agree with, ,....it will take some extraordinary diplomacy and politicking to hold things together.

Also , I think the general behaviour in The House was disgusting. The PM should answer the questions and not go on some rambling comedic speel about what band should headline the Labour music festival.

I just feel watching PM's questions, I just had a massive amount of pl55 taken out of me, as a voter. Where is Guido Fawkes when you need him ?

I would say it is out of desperation. The SNP know well already they are being treated with contempt by this government who renege on promises all too casually. Any vote would easily be defeated by Tory sheep compliance to continue to save their party. As for Labour, they are not opposing effectively on anything at the moment, let alone constitutional collateral damage caused by Brexit.
