Those are the worst runs in the clubs history. Currently on the 3rd worst.

*edit* We also went 15 without a win in 80/81. So this is 4th worst.
Yes but how many points did we gain ? ...Im pretty sure that whilst we didn't win (for 15 games) in those periods we probably earned a few more draws along the way..thuse achieving more points than this current run has earned.

We got 4 points so 4 draws in 73/74, 80/81, 97/98

and obviously 4 points where more valuable in the first 2 seasons

Chances of going down are still pretty slim.

I am certainly not resigned to relegation and expect us to get 4 more points before the Semi-Final.

That said, our league form since the turn of the year has been dismal. How many supporters wish our 4 cup wins had come in the league? Personally, I don't!

Many of the posts focus on the goalkeeping position and the defence. Statistically, that is not our main problem. Our goals conceded is the same as Chelsea and Liverpool but we have scored 13 goals fewer.

Entertaining as Zaha and Bolasie can be, it would be nice to see fewer step-overs and more penetrating crosses from them. Zaha's temperament is also of concern. The opposition are not going to get out of his way and admire his skills. He is no longer a youngster with bags of potential. He is our star player and now is the time for him to deliver - just as he did in the 2013 play-offs.

Having said all that, I remain positive about the remainder of the season. Having supported the team for over 50 years, I have seen far worse bunch of players than the current set. Wembleeeeeee, Wembleeeeeee!!!!

It would help if the clown Pardew played Bolasie in his natural position.

The stadium is rubbish and I'm pretty sure we won't build anything if we are in the championship, the scouting network is also rubbish for some reason which is beyond me we have only just decided to get foreign scouts and our academy is lagging behind many. These things all suggest we are nowhere near in a position to replace players leaving and bounce straight back thus leaving us in the wilds of championship for another decade. Agreed even if we stay up for 20 years we will never be big enough not to fear relegation but we may well be in a position of strength after such a time.

I agree totally that even if we stay up painful questions need to be answered about the collapse, hiding from them or pretending it was just bad luck is likely to mean we start next season in the same vain. Whether this be replacing the manager, surely if we go half a season without winning the manager must go? Clearing out a load of players who when the chips are down are proving not good enough, it's very easy to look great when your winning a whole different game when things are bad. SP has to get the bucks out, being frugal has served us to a point but now the s**t is dripping off the fan so it's time for him to get his big boy pants on.

This is the sort of logic that lead to constant change no stability and an eventual fall through the leagues. The new manager bounce is crap anyway mostly you get a game or two then it goes back to being rubbish. It's abundantly clear that our squad overall is not good enough. We have gotten away with being comfortably one of the lowest scorers in the league, one of the lowest pass completion figures in the league and conceding a lot of shots on goal because we have been defensively tight for three seasons. All of this is true under Pulis and Pardew.

Sacking the manager does not solve the problem that we still have a mid table premiership first 11 and a low to mid table championship second 11 with one or two decent backups.

I'd actually argue that given that it went wrong at Newcastle for AP when they started selling their decent players it's gone wrong here when we've lost critical players in the midfield, the attacking midfield and up front. Improving our entire front line and midfield with four new replacements so we at least have a full premiership quality match day squad will be critical.

Im resinged to us going down.

Think Norwich and Newcastle will escape

Signing Adebayour was an act of desperation reminiscent of QPR a few seasons back

Is the board "resigned to relegation" ?
If not, what are they doing ?
AP is started to look frazzled, I think the penny has finally dropped.
The press conference will be interesting.

If we didn't win a league game for 20 matches you'd be ok keeping the manager and just saying it's down to bad luck, that's the stuff that gets clubs tumbling down leagues.

If the manager is not right there is no point keeping him just for the sake of "stability" . AP must be close to getting the crunch, but, not least for his sake I hope he makes some changes to his staff and his own approach to turn it around

Still think this season can go 3 ways, which is pretty good considering there is only 9 or 10 matches left.

If AP fails to generate another win this season in the league and / or we get relegated I think he'll either acknowledge that he has no answers left and he walks or Parish determines that the club is regressing and he acts. Whilst I would put stability above much else if the manager still commands the respect of the players, I am doubtful (now) that either the manager or the owner would oversee relegation and not part company.

In fairness, I'm rarely in favour of sacking a manager and am just glad that I don't have to make the decision!
