What cost West ham - an alternative view
Much has been made in the media of Joe Hart being upset about his team mate being unprofessional, and that's what cost them the win.
I would like to suggest an alternative. West ham players had already tried to go in the corner twice at least and had lost possession. So maybe it's not quite the guaranteed way to kill the game that Hart thinks. However my main point is that the amount of time added on was due to the West ham players "professional" rolling around on the ground trying to waste time. hart himself feigned injury and had to have the trainer on (to eat up a bit more time). The fourth official was going to signal 5 minutes but changed it to 6 because a west ham player (hart i think) was getting treatment. If they hadn't feigned injury then only 5 minutes would have been signalled in which case Palace wouldn't have had time to score. The amount of time added for that injury was probably greater than it actually took. If i believed in karma that would be karma - trying to waste time meant that more time was added on!

Interesting point. A shame however Jose Fonte was booed when clearly genuinely injured

No. All Antonio had to do was stay in the corner and game over with time wasting on their part working perfectly. He is 100% to blame

Every team does it, including our own. Law should be changed so the clock controlled by another official in the stands, and stopped the minute the ball is not in play, rather than 45mins with injury time.

I agree. It works perfectly in rugby. But football won’t change because it thrives on the drama and controversy.

Not sure people were booing Fonte. More that when he tried to get up Hart stopped him to waste more time.

People booed Fonte because he shunned going the quick way off the pitch behind the goal, insisting that he could run to the side, made about four yards and then started hopping.

Fonte and team mates imeadiatly signalled to come off, but he then went down in a crumpled heap where he stayed for about three minutes. He was then 4 yards from the byline which meant he could easily have taken the quick route, but made a b-line towards the bench, then changed direction. He then slowed himself down a bit more with the hop and hobbling antics. West Ham and Fonte got exactly what they deserved. Would Palace do it...hell yes but there could have been over 10 mins played yesterday....

West Ham were wasting time right from the start of the second half. Noticeable and very odd tactics under the circumstances.
Adding on time isn't enough of a deterrent, but refs don't seem to book time wasters any more. Yesterday's ref also made no attempt to enforce opposition players moving away from free kicks unless they were setting up a wall. Both examples are low level but persistent cheating which must have a cumulative effect on the game or they wouldn't be (coached) to do it |

Hart going down and needing treatment for a severe case of time wasting was what caused that extra minute that gave Wilf time to score.
He was as unprofessional as Valencia. |

Also, has anyone mentioned the authorities taking action against their scum fans for chanting
"Zaha Zaha you're a cu^t, Zaha, you're a cu^t" ? Must have gone down very well with mums and kids in the Family Stand. |

Whilst use of the word in any chant is pretty embarrassing clearly you have missed the several occasions that our own fans have sung something similar.

Just start booking players for time wasting and get everyone that needs treatment off (except in the most serious cases) the closest part of the pitch to get the game moving and go back to proper drop balls (none of this kicking it back to the opposition friendly bullshit).

This change needs to happen as it removes time wasting (cheating), the only time wasting you could do is to keep the ball, which is atleast the sport not pretending to be injured. |

I don't agree. The reason football won't change is the the referees absolute belief, fully backed by the so called FA, is that the referees "control" the game. They believe the game is all about them.
