Do people criticising him realise the Liverpool goal was heavily deflected?

didn't really have anything to do. can't really judge him either way

I have been wanting Hennessey to start over Speroni....but I agree, Hennessey was not challenged enough to judge him either way at Liverpool.

Let Speroni play next week as a last hurrah (I know his testimonial is for that)... and then it will be Hennessey's place to lose next season.
Just wish he would lose the bum fluff and the taped socks. |

Hennessy has to start next season, needs 40 games a season

People have to remember that its no disrespect to Julian to say that Wayne Hennessey is a better goalkeeper.
Speroni will quite rightly be remembered as a Palace legend like Jackson, Martyn and Burridge. However, Wayne has waited long enough. He looked ready yesterday. |

Although he wasn't really tested, he "looked"'good, - big tall I imposing keeper that filled more of the goal, defence seemed more comfortable in front of him and kicking was quality, often leading to attacks or alleviating pressure. Got down well to save Gerrards low shot after seeing it late as well.
Would like to see him tested against better opposition but did all that was asked of him today. Couldn't have done much to stop Lallana's finish and i doubt Jules would have either. Time for Speroni to go off into the sunset now, Hennessy should be given his chance next season, but if he doesn't cut it, we will need a new no.1 in Jan. |

Hennessy does seem to have 'presence' which is always a plus

Feels terrible to say it, but I felt a lot more secure with Hennessey in goal
He didn't have too much to do but he looks a far more dominant figure, someone that will command the box.

How can people question him over the goal? It was a one on one- player finish those 80% of the time.
Generally a good performance, but he wasn't massively tested. |

And didn't it take a slight deflection off Kelly ? |

Felt like this also, maybe it is time to pass the baton to Hennesey. Although I still can't get over his cup game against Newcastle where he was very suspect!

To be fair Wayne was rubbish yesterday because he let one in. Likewise Glenn should never take a penalty again as he could only score on the rebound.
One of our great live games on live TV and people still nitpick.
