There will be piece on the A-I games against Inter in Wednesday's match programme.
Birchenall scored at Selhurst Park and Tambling got both in the San Siro, the second a beauty and Terry Wharton & Jim Scott both missed easy chances. There are claims that Palace were the first English (or British?) to win in the San Siro |

Certainly attended the Cagliari and Inter games at Selhurst. I remember Luigi Riva playing for Cagliari who was some sort of mega star in those days.
Bobby Tamblings winner was a thunderbolt in the top corner from way outside the area. Its funny but I can still remember the keeper getting his fingers to it and thinking it had been saved but.... cue the celebrations. It really was quite a win for us |

This would surely make us one of two teams but not the 'only'. Although some could argue that Arsenal, with their vast array of foreign imports, can hardly be considered British. |

Whilst getting my anorak on, the 2-2 draw with Fiorentina in May 1973 is one of Palace's most badly reported matches in the Croydon Advertiser, does any one know the Palace team line up for the game, all that is ever mentioned is the score and that Derek Possee scored both goals. The earlier mentioned Lazio 3-1 win was on the Wednesday after Palace had beaten Chelsea in Malcolm Allison's first game as manager, as Palace had important game at Sheff United on the Saturday both teams fielded reserve line ups (Palace then went on to lose at Sheffield!).
In the semi final of 72/73 Palace lost on aggregate 5-1 (0-0 at home to Newcastle, 5-1 away) who went on I think to win it against Fiorentina in a one leg match in Italy. Anorak now removed |

When Spurs were playing last week the commentator was saying that Arsenal were the only team to win at the San Siro! As usual we were forgotten!
I was at the 4-1 valley tonking, Sinnott played and we were shite, Minto probably MOTM

A friend of mine has an Anglo-Italian Cup Inter Milan player issue watch from Palace's game in 1971. I have seen it and it is superb, how rare are these and how much would you value this kind of memorabilia at? (Not that he is looking to sell)

Yes, I think he did!
I think we played them in the league cup as well around that time, a dull draw iirc, then also in the league
