I'd love to see clips of Everton and Leeds
Lombardo was the best player I've ever seen in the red and blue. About a chapter ahead of the rest of the team. |

One of the first things Lombardo did was to track back win the ball, ping a 60 yard pinpoint crossball and start sprinting up field in support.
Rodger went to take the ball down and control it but it came off his knee and ended up in in the stand ! Lombardo would have to get used to this. Anyone remember who made his Everton debut that day and went on to play for us ?

Thinking back to that day; did we line up 5-3-2? Edworthy sweeping and Roberts in midfield? |

Lombardo
An absolute legend! 97-98 was my 1st season as a season ticket holder & dispite the 16 game wait for a home win & countless 0-3 & 1-3 home defeats im so proud I got to watch the great man in action. The 2-3 month lay-off through injury halfway through that season was the killer blow as far as our survival hopes were concerned :-( i remember the Derby game, our 1st home win (April 18th!!!) 3-1,the "holy trinity" of Lombardo,Curcic & Jansen made mincemeat of the Rams that day! Happy, happy memories of the maestro! I just wonder,if Venereals & Goldberk hadn't screwed things up! just how the "holy trinity" would've fared in Division 1???

Anyone who doesn't put Lombardo in their all time top Palace team needs their head examined IMHO. He had a great song about him too "..... he's got no hair, but we don't care just one Lombardo" Happy days.

Everton away will live long in the memory, sun, beers, a cracking atmosphere and Palace winning.
And of course the great man making his debut and scoring. |

Icon for me at Palace was Lombardo ... I recall a Newcastle game that he particularly shone in amongst others ...

Sasa Curcic's dribble and pass in the opening seconds of that clip were quite something, too.
Attilio was something else though. Absolutely insane to have a player of his quality in the red and blue. |

Scored our first during the first half. Was then brought down for our second, which Bruce Dyer duly despatched from the penalty spot. Duncan disorderly pulled one back for them but we hung on for the 3 points. |
