Sadly we didn't actually manage to beat Leeds away in that whole top flight stint (69-73). Some confusion there with Leeds Road I guess? What is great though is that in that period that mighty lot (Bremner/Giles/Madeley/Reaney/Hunter/Clarke/Lorimer etc) never beat us at our place in the League.

Not only did Palace not actually qualify for the tournament (we got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 1997/98 season and no PL side wanted to take up the spot - so we got it by default!) - if you study a map of the World, Samsun, although firmly in Turkey, is actually on the Asian side of the Black Sea - so not actually in Europe.

Our only ever competitive match in 'Europe' was gainst Asian opposition!
Not true... Aston Villa wanted the Intertoto spot but qualified for the UEFA cup due to Chelsea winning the European Cup Winners Cup that season, so we gained the Intertoto Spot by virtue of no one other than Villa and us wanting to enter.

I always like to point out to Wolves fans that of the billion goals the Tipton Skin, Steve Bull scored... None of them were against Palace.

You forgot the needless free kick he gave away in the dying seconds.

The Arsenal league cup match was my first away game .

Palace were involved in the then world record transfer fee for a sold goalie, Bill Glazier and a purchased goalie, Nigel Martyn.

Not sure if this is a record for a club outside the top flight, but at one point as a Div 2 club in 1987, we fielded 4 future England players: Wright, Gray, Thomas and Salako.

Both Johnny Byrne and Peter Taylor given full England caps, whilst we were still in Division 3 , I believe.

We were knocking on the door most of the 2nd half and he produced two moments of brilliance, one which hit the bar and the other he scored.

Given that we stayed up by the skin of our teeth, I think it's fair to say goals which salvage a point away from home are few and far between and should be remembered fondly.

Palace (as far as I know, courtesy of Mr. James Varcoe), are the team with the most former players to have gone on to become England managers.

This is correct, the ball is believed to have entered orbit shortly after clearing the Holmesdale terrace and is yet to have been found. NASA experts are on the case.
