Thanks for putting these clips online, barnabas, what a great resource for all Palace fans!
Lots of stuff there I either have never seen or not since they were first shown - so it's a great way of showing what a great journey Palace have been on in the past 45 years.

Very grainy Cine Film here of this game too '1979/04/28 Crystal Palace 2-0 Notts County' , which a friend of mine recorded and i put on You Tube.
In hindsight, shame he chose this game that was already featured on LWT.

Apologies, bubbs. Was meant to have included a link along with those to the LWT footage. Both now rectified.

Its not me who is in contact with the guy, I was merely introduced to him once. Agree its the holy grail though.

Have you been in prison, barnabas? Great work anyway, wherever you've been

I would add Ian Wright's first ever goal for us in the holy grail category.
I remember the club shop did used to sell videos of matches certainly back in the Mullery days. I had Newcastle (3-1) and West Ham (1-1) from that era. They were very ropey but still amazing to watch. From memory, I think the club sold many more games. Does anyone recall if the club filmed every home game back then? Is it possible that someone is sitting with these videos gathering dust somewhere? The first 'season review' video I have is from our promotion season 88/89.

Watched the highlights of our first league match at Stamford Bridge in August 1969 since the 24/25 season. Jacko had a blinder that day but we looked pretty good going forward with Kember and Hoy.
All I can remember from the day was keeping quiet when Hoy scored. And thinking the ground wasn't as bad as the Old Den but not a patch on Selhurst Park. |

I think the OP is by Londoner, he has been missing and seems to change teams by the month

While I like to think of myself as a Londoner, I haven't the faintest idea of the person you're referring to. I haven't done time either.

OMG the goals from the terrible defeat at Norwich that sent us down and saved them in '73. Didn't think that existed.

Just wondered, barnabas, if you know of the TV Documentaries that featured Palace players - circa 1976? I remember there was one about Vince Hilaire - might even have been called 'Vince' and also one that featured Palace youngster Steve Leahy - I think they were on ITV - seem to remember there was a mini-season of football related stories - Saturday's Heroes?

'Vince' I remember very well. An all-too-brief clip featuring the late great Arnie Warren can be seen on YouTube:
To view the link you have to Register or Login The Steve Leahy programme is completely new to me and one which I will investigate further. |

Great view from the Palace boardroom, looking onto the Holmesdale and the old Lady Edridge girls school in the background in that clip. My missus went to Lady E's and said the girls used to chat to players like Billy Gillbert and Jerry Murphy through the fence seperating the school and CPFC.
