Enjoy and post any memories jogged by the affore mentioned headlines.

1. Who were the double signings ?

It was indeed Tambling and Birchenall,Martinsleftpeg was first with that one.

2. Fill in the 6 blanks ( 2 sold,1 pending and 3 brought)

Maiden Eagle was spot on with Kember and Birchenall sold,Goodwin pending and Bell,Kellard and Craven arriving.

3. Who was 'Mac' that we were being linked with at the time ?

Bert Head was indeed down at Bournemouth watching Ted McDougal, well remembered Morgs.

4. John who and the name of the non-English team he got his hat-trick against ?

N Herts Eagle was correct,John Craven against Lazio, nice one.

5. 1974 and TV arrives at Selhurst but where from, who with and who went in the opposite direction ?

El Aguila recalled QPR,Ian Evans and the legend Don Rogers which were correct.

6. Who was the Boss and who did Mal want to sign ?

N Herts Eagle got this one right,Ray Bloye and Alan Gowling.

7. Which Palace player became footballs first sponsored player ?

I thought this was tricky but big bad John was right with Nick Chatterton,i'll post the clipping on the ' Palace facts you absolutely love.' thread later on for the curious.

8. Slightly misleading amount as Andy Gray was fined £75 for the same offence and its tied into the article but who was the other up before the F.A on the same day ?

CP Satellite nailed this one,Mullery and his antics at Stamford Bridge.

9. Who were the stars and what had they done ?

I'll split this one between El Aguila and Hedgehog for Harkouk,Silkman and a fist full of dollars !.

10. Who did we beat 7-0,what competition and the aggregate score

JJ has the right team,it was 8-1 on aggregate in the League Cup.

I've added the months next to the years below which may help and I know i've put two number 2's,typo but too late to change !

Fantastic quiz Plumey, it really stirred the memory.

I was thinking we dodged a bullet with not getting Ted McDougal. Just took a look at Wikipedia and boy was I wrong!

Amazing goal scoring record over a long career (250+ goals in 500+ games).

Oh well - we've got Benteke - oh wait a minute...

Interesting little insight into the financial issues around the club, seeing as the Whitehorse end was leased to Sainsburys in 77.

Don’t know the full details, but Bloye tried to fund Palace with money from Matthews Holdings (mainly famous for their butchers shops which later were bought out by Dewhursts).

He used over £500,000 to help by many players in his first full season (1972/73) but obviously we were relegated. Even worse, the shareholders of Matthews wanted the funds back.

Presumably this left Bloye looking to recoup his money, which kind of explains the fiasco of the Sainsbury’s deal at the Whitehorse End, which haunts us to this day.

Maybe someone knows more details?
