Signed from Birmingham, he was actually one of our better performers in those grim times. 7 goals and top scorer is pretty woeful but not surprising, considering our main striker was Andy McCulloch !! |

A-hem - Mr McCullough got our goal in a last game 1-0 v Burnley which staved off relegation to Division three. Hero.

McCullough’s two most memorable goals were against a top Newcastle side that included Keegan and Beardsley, and an FA Cup goal against Div 1 West Ham. Both goals if I recall were scrappy efforts.

Chris Armstrong was a real favourite of mine. Pacy and knew where the goal was.

Mike Elwiss (1979-1980) a club record signing, £200k, according to Wikipedia. Only played 20 times, scoring 7 goals. He's fat, he's round, he bounces on the ground, (Mike) Flanagan...Flanagan (1979-1980) Last edited by dowieslovechild; 17-04-2018 at 01:12 PM. |

Oops! Swindles was a very effective striker, tall, pacy, good in the air and two good feet. Capped for England at Under 21 I believe.

I liked Ndah. He had a lot of problems with injury, didn’t he?
Also, Bruce Dyer gets bonus points for the Adidas haircut. Does anyone have a photo of that? |

Ndah was a wide player for us - only really played central for other teams.
Anyway: Stan Cummins, Dennis Bailey.
